Sony backs Lily Allen’s record label
January 22nd, 2011 - Permalink

Lily Allen’s record label has won backing from Sony.

The 25-year-old ‘Not Fair’ singer’s ‘In The Name Of’ company has been signed up by the music giant, who will reportedly pay her a £100,000 salary and give her money to set up an office and hire staff, while one of the company’s own A&R talent scouts will help her sign acts.

The singer has been working on establishing her label since 2009, when she also announced she would take a break from recording her own music, adding she wanted to set up her own label as she was disillusioned with the music industry.

She said: ”I’m setting up a record label at the moment, getting involved in lots of different things.

”I think things need to change in the music industry and we need to rethink a lot of stuff.”

Lily has already signed hotly tipped New York duo Cults, who have been courted by a number of high profile labels since they hit the music scene last year.

Sony is one of the biggest music labels in the world with acts including Britney Spears, Aerosmith, Kesha, Kings Of Leon and Michael Jackson.

Lily Allen is engaged to Sam Cooper!
December 28th, 2010 - Permalink

Lily Allen is to marry after her boyfriend surprised her by proposing during a holiday in Bali.

The 25-year-old singer burst into tears when Sam Cooper popped the question on Christmas Day, weeks after she had suffered a miscarriage.

Following their ordeal, the couple had jetted away for a last-minute Christmas break.

They spent several days in Australia before moving on to the exclusive Amankila cliff-side resort on the Indonesian island.

Mr Cooper, 32, proposed at sunset on the balcony of their £800-a-night suite, which overlooks the Indian Ocean.

A friend of the couple told the Mail: ‘It has been a terrible time for Lily and Sam, but they are totally in love with one another.

‘It all came out of the blue – but Lily was overwhelmed and they are both overjoyed. They can look to the future now.’

The couple celebrated in the hotel bar with fellow guests, drinking champagne and cocktails until the early hours.

One onlooker said: ‘Lily was telling everyone that she and Sam had just got engaged – they could not keep the smiles off their faces. It couldn’t have been more romantic. The resort is just so peaceful and picturesque.’

The couple have been dating since July 2009. Miss Allen has described Mr Cooper, a builder and decorator, as a ‘normal bloke’ and ‘the love of my life’.

She added: ‘Sam treats me differently. He’s told me he’ll look after me forever. That’s what I’ve always wanted.’

Miss Allen’s miscarriage in November was her second, after she suffered one when she was with former boyfriend Ed Simons of dance band The Chemical Brothers.

But this month her sister Sarah Owen said the singer would be trying for another baby soon.

A spokesman for Miss Allen declined to comment last night.

Lily Allen to try for another baby in new year
December 16th, 2010 - Permalink

Lily Allen’s sister Sarah Owen has revealed her pop star sibling is going to try for a baby in the New Year, after tragically losing her baby six months into her pregnancy this year.

Sarah Owen claims the ‘Who’d Have Known’ singer wants to get pregnant again in 2011 after taking some time with her boyfriend Sam Cooper to grieve for the tragic loss of her baby six months into her pregnancy in November.

Sarah said: “Lily hasn’t been in a great place, but she’s getting there. It’s been a long, hard road. She is in the country with her boyfriend and doing wholesome things. They are going to start trying (for a baby) in the New Year.”

Sarah – who runs vintage clothes shop Lucy in Disguise in London with 25-year-old Lily – also revealed she found it difficult to comfort her sister in the wake of what happened.

She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “New Year, new start. Losing the baby has totally devastated her, she’s still grieving. I didn’t realise the impact something like this could have on someone, and as a sister it’s been painful to watch.”

Despite her heartache, Sarah insists Lily is more determined than ever to fulfil her dream of becoming a mother.

She explained: “Lily won’t let this stop her, she is absolutely determined to be a mum. This is what she wants more than anything in the whole wide world, more than her singing career. It’s always been her dream.”

Lily Allen engaged to Sam Cooper?
November 23rd, 2010 - Permalink

Lily Allen is allegedly engaged to her boyfriend, Sam Cooper, after tragically losing her baby six months into her pregnancy.

Despite representatives for The Fear singer claiming that she has no plans to marry, Now magazine claims that Cooper popped the question to Lily after she suffered her second miscarriage earlier this month.

A friend of Allen’s told the publication: “Everyone’s so proud of Lily. She’s made a list of how to get through what can only be described as a horrible tragedy.”

“This is the most awful situation in the world and she’s aware that nothing can take away the hurt she feels at losing her and Sam’s baby.”

They continued: “Last week, Sam told Lily he can’t live without her and wants to go ahead with the wedding plans. It was always the plan that they’d marry at some point but this has given her a major boost.”

Allen, who was also admitted to hospital with septicaemia shortly after losing her first child, is said to have told Sam that before they think about the wedding, she needs “time to heal.”

The friend revealed to Now: “Lily’s been in a dark place but she’s slowly rebuilding from the shock. She told Sam she needs time to heal but she’s not letting herself die of a broken heart.”

“He’s been very supportive but he’s hurting like hell as too, so they had a long heart-to-heart and have planned a holiday somewhere quiet.”

They added: “Lily’s a fighter and says if she can get through this, she can get through anything.”

Kym Marsh: Lily Allen shouldn’t give up
November 9th, 2010 - Permalink

Kym Marsh has spoken of her sadness for Lily Allen following her miscarriage.

Marsh, who lost her prematurely-born son Archie last year, expressed her sympathy for the singer.

“It’s the most horrific thing that anybody could go through,” the Corrie actress wrote in her New magazine column.

However, Marsh – who announced her own pregnancy last month – said that Allen should continue trying to have a baby despite the latest tragedy.

“Lily shouldn’t give up hope,” she said. “I’m sure eventually she will get her little one.”

Lily’s publicist denies agreeing to print interview
November 9th, 2010 - Permalink

Lily Allen’s publicist has dismissed claims he supported a newspaper’s decision to run an interview with the star from before she lost her baby.

The Guardian newspaper’s G2 supplement recently ran an interview with Allen, 25, that she gave to them before suffering a miscarriage.

The publication was criticised for running the interview but a message on Guardian G2′s Twitter page said: “Some unhappy with our Lily Allen interview. We felt it was written with warmth and sympathy; her PR fully supported it, too.”

It added: “We contacted her PR to see if Lily would rather we didn’t publish. He supported publication of interview, thanked us for asking.”

However, her publicist, Murray Chalmers, did not agree with the British newspaper’s comments.

Chalmers wrote on Twitter: “Very annoying to hear that The Guardian are apparently claiming I supported their decision to print the Lily Allen interview.”

Lily Allen battling septicaemia in hospital
November 6th, 2010 - Permalink

Lily Allen was in hospital last night with the potentially lethal blood-poisoning condition septicaemia – just days after losing her baby.

The chart-topping singer was six months pregnant when she miscarried the baby she had been expecting with boyfriend Sam Cooper.

She had been recovering at home in Gloucestershire but was yesterday taken to hospital by ambulance.

Last night a friend told the Daily Mail: ‘Lily had been recuperating at home with Sam and her family, but she has been taken back to hospital and is getting the best care possible at the moment.

‘Everyone is extremely concerned, but she is in the best place and luckily she was admitted quickly.’

Hours earlier Miss Allen thanked fans for their support following the miscarriage.

Writing on her Twitter page yesterday, the 25-year-old said: ‘I’m still very sick but the messages are helping me to be stronger. Thank you x x.’

She added: ‘Thank you for all your kind messages.’

Lily Allen suffers second miscarriage

Lily Allen has lost her baby, a spokesman has confirmed.

She and boyfriend Sam Cooper have asked for privacy at a ‘deeply distressing time’.

The singer previously had a miscarriage when she was dating Chemical Brothers star Ed Simons in 2008.

Allen’s spokesman said: ‘It is with great sadness that we have to confirm that Lily Allen and Sam Cooper have lost their baby. The couple ask that their privacy be respected and that they be left alone at this deeply distressing time. No further comment will be made.’

Lily, 25, was around six months pregnant.

She had begun to effectively wind up her music career to prepare for motherhood but in the summer she performed at the Wireless festival in London.

She announced she was pregnant during the summer after being given the all-clear at her three-month scan.

We’re heartbroken by this news, and our thoughts are with Lily, Sam and their families during this horrible time. <3

Lily Allen cancels Sir Elton John’s charity ball
October 31st, 2010 - Permalink

Pregnant pop star Lily Allen has pulled out of plans to perform at Sir Elton John’s charity ball on Saturday night (October 30, 2010) due to illness.

The Smile singer was due to take to the stage at the Grey Goose Character & Cocktails Elton John Aids Foundation winter ball in London to perform for guests.

Allen has now axed her appearance after falling sick with a “viral infection”, and Sir Elton has stepped up to take her place in the show.

A spokesman for Allen says, “Lily Allen is a keen supporter of the charity and Grey Goose and is sorry that she is no longer able to perform live on the night. Lily Allen regrets that she has had to pull out of her scheduled appearance due to a viral infection.

“As Lily is pregnant and not able to take medication, she has been advised to rest until the infection clears. She apologises to Elton and to anyone attending the event.”

The ball will take place at the U.S. embassy in the British capital.

Lily Allen takes the stage for suprise performance!
October 20th, 2010 - Permalink

Lily Allen stunned concertgoers at Koko yesterday, when she joined Professor Green on stage for an impromptu performance of their song ‘Just Be Good To Green’.

Having kept a relatively low profile of late, Lily’s five-month bump was looking a great deal larger than when she was last spotted gracing the front rows during London Fashion Week.

And proving she’s not one to go for the more traditional maternity wear, the blooming star hit the stage in a metallic empire-line minidress, leopard print cardigan and impossibly high heels.

The 25-year-old, who is expecting a boy with beau Sam Cooper, has admitted to having a ‘really stupid list’ of baby names.

‘The whole thing became a lot more real to me when I found out it was a boy,’ she said in a recent interview.

‘You start to think of names, and then you can go shopping, and it all feels like it’s happening.

‘I’ve got a really stupid list of names, but I’m not going to show you. But, no, we probably won’t [use it] – I think Sam is way too straight and traditional for that sort of thing.’

Lily Allen has accepted damages over claims she made offensive statements about Ashley and Cheryl Cole and the Beckhams.

The claims were made by French football magazine So Foot in 2009, who have now agreed to pay Allen damages over false quotes.
