While I thought the episode rocked and the song was one of the best (if not the best) of season two so far, I’d hesitate to use it as a starter episode to someone who was interested in the show. As you guys mentioned, the episode had so much continuity to it that would be completely lost to someone who lacked the proper context, and while the continuity wasn’t the episode’s strongest point, I think it loses a lot of its greatness without that understanding.

That aside, I’d love to see more development for Pinkie Pie. I mean, she’s the only pony whose parents we’ve seen that also lacks a really good reason to not live with them; Twilight is on royal assignment, and Rarity owns her own place, but Pinkie chose (or maybe not?) to move away from home and live with the Cakes. Is there backstory there? Does she miss her parents, but put on a brave face for everyone around her? Did she have some sort of falling-out with them or her sisters? There’s potential for true character depth and interesting stories there that we’re just not getting. Somehow I don’t think it’ll happen in season 2; I’m crossing my fingers for season 3.

I’m not seeing the MP3 download link… I’d like to have this on my 3DS to listen to while I’m away from home.

Fourth wall is completely gone now, I think. Because Pinkie obviously joins you in your 80′s special events.

This episode was an absoloute joy for me. Just beautiful, really. All the things you said- the continuity, the hilarity, THE SONG, the little tocuhes, the dynamic of Cranky and Pinkie- all finomanal. I have to add, as well, that the voice acting was top tocth here. Just Cranky Doodle’s voice raspy growling thunder next to Pinkie’s high-pitches was a great contrast for me. I also have to vote the episode up even more becuase i didn’t go exactly how I thought it would. I mean, yeah, the Miltilda thing was predictable once you saw her, but from the get-go I thought this would be the “not every one will want to be your friend” episode. I liked that it ended up with giving your friends a little privacy sometimes, which, to me, seems like the less obvious lesson to go for (or maybe I just watched that Disney’s Recess episode too many times as a kid, and I’m sick of it now; could be prejudice).

P.S. Is it just me, or are lined up for some AWESOME sounding episodes in the near future? The Fluttershy episode A LOT of fans have been waiting for (I cannot express my delight!), A FREAKING TIME TRAVEL EPISODE (I hate when people say this, but seriously, ’nuff said), and a VERY cool Spike ep with the potential for more world-building (which I LOVE). If the Scootaloo episode I’m crossing my fingers for is after Dragon Quest, I- … well, let’s not get our hopes up astronically (OH GOD, I LOVE THIS SHOW!)

It gets sent to iTunes the moment it’s posted here. iTunes takes some time to update though. I just checked, and it’s up there now spacer
