5 Must Try Manicures Inspired by NYFW
I’ve been obsessed with polishing my nails since I sadly cut manicures out of my budget. My nail polish collection has grown from just 5 to a whopping 59 polishes in the last year. Partly from all the events I attend and more because every time I visit a Duane Reade or a Walgreens I score an amazing new color. One would think I would have every color by now, but it’s soooo many to try.
The season the beauty trends at NYFW were a little different. Designers are using more racy colors in their collections, trying out wild and crazy hair looks, and even a slew of eye catching nail trends.
I spotted a few on the runway that I must try. Some I may have to get the salon to do. My hands aren’t that steady. Check out 5 must try manicures you should try.
9 Swoon Worthy Looks from NYFW
You may have noticed that I use the word swoon — a lot. I didn’t make up the word it’s in the dictionary. It’s similar to amazeballs but I find swoon to be a much cleaner adjective. The words ‘balls’ can be perceived in many ways, if you catch my drift. Before I jump into LFW I wanted to share some of my swoon worthy looks from NYFW.
For whatever reason (and I will explain in the caption of the photo) here’s 9 looks I am totally in love with or should I say swooning over.
EVENT RECAP: Relax Renew Recharge NYFW Tweet Up at @Sephora sponsored by @ATT (#NYFWRRR)
Hey Readies,
At the end of the NYFW season, Christen of DivasandDorks.com and I hosted a tweet up (RELAX RENEW RECHARGE) at Sephora in Columbus Circle sponsored by AT&T. It was my very first blogger event so I was super nervous.
A ton of bloggers (and their bff’s), stylists, and even a few models braved the wet and cold weather for a night of complimentary makeovers and giveaways. Guests enjoyed delish cupcakes from Tonnies Minis, and a few guests walked away with $25, $50, and $100 Sephora gift cards. Two big winners walked away with new AT&T smartphone!

ON TRENDS from NYFW: Winter Whites (I’ll pass)
Perhaps I hate winter white because it’s always the theme of some party I’m invited too. Or perhaps I still believe in no-white-after-labor? I personally feel like the Michelin Man when I wear it. So I’ll pass.
But who cares what I think, right. The fashion trends will live on with or without my approval. I will suggest that when wearing winter white remember that fabric is key, try to mix and match, and you can never go wrong with the basic white sweater, handbag, or coats. Don’t try to do too much.
As this season’s runway proved, winter white is here too stay. Check out some of my favorites designers and their winter white runways!
Pin ItON TRENDS from NYFW: gutsy FURS!
With this Fall collection we saw tons of furs, on and off the runway. So I was waiting for all the PETA supporters to be lined up outside the Lincoln Center and ready to throw bloody red paint on the fur coats entering the Lincoln Center. I had images of Samantha from SATC leaving Bryant Park, joyous and happy to be back in New York – red stained ruined fur and all. No such luck for that dramatic thought at the Lincoln Center. Bags were checked for certain shows.
Dennis Basso, DKNY, and Christian Cota were just a few designers who grabbed my attention with their gutsy colorful furs. I can’t say I’m running out to buy one but I’ve got my eye on a few brands now.
Check out my favs.
ON TRENDS from NYFW: Chartreuse (the color not the liquer)
Pantone predicted the color of 2012 as Tangerine Tango, a gorgeous vibrant orange. Too bad we didn’t see much of their prediction on the runway this NYFW season. But what I did spot was lots of chartreuse.
What is chartreuse? Good question. It’s a color halfway between yellow and green that was named because of its resemblance to the green/yellow color of a French liqueur. I’ve seen this color a lot in home decor. My bathroom colors are actually turquoise and chartreuse. So the color may not be new to you but perhaps new to your closet.
The only bad thing about this color is that it doesn’t quite photograph as well as it appears. But I love the color trend just the same.
Check out my fav pieces from designers who nailed this trend.
ON TRENDS from NYFW: Red Carpet Worthy
Now that NYFW is over, it’s time to check out what’s trending, what looked more than amazing, and what we hated beyond words.
Let’s start with Red Carpet worthy gowns. It’s my favorite garment to drool over and they usually gets lots of “OOOOOs” and “AHHHHs” from everyone — especially the celebrities.
Designers like Jenny Packham, Monique Lhuillier, and Naeem Khan brought out lots of sparkle and shine this season. You can bet your only pair of Prada pumps that your favorite actress or performer will be rocking these looks come fall.
Check out some of my favorites.
