Carlos Figueroa

Hace 68 años nació un niño en la que todavía era zona rural de Cartago. Fue el cuarto de los cinco hijos del matrimonio formado por Rafael Ángel Figueroa y Graciela Quesada. Don Rafael Ángel fue un campesino trabajador y esforzado de elevados valores morales. Doña Graciela, madre amorosa y abnegada de profunda formación espiritual.
El niño creció feliz en su hogar ejemplar y siempre mostró marcada inclinación por los trabajos manuales y una gran afición por el dibujo y las historietas.
Desde sus primeros grados en la Escuela República Francesa, en Taras de Cartago, se las ingenió para dibujar y leer revistas con aventuras de vaqueros y superhombres durante las horas lectivas, lo que le valió muchas llamadas de atención, especialmente, en los últimos años en que ya se había hecho el propósito de llegar a ser dibujante de historietas y dibujos animados.
Sin embargo, fue en sexto grado cuando aquella clara vocación recibió determinantes palabras de aliento, que estimularon y orientaron lo que sería la vida profesional de este niño.
Una tarde durante una clase gramática su maestra, la niña Amparo Martínez, lo sorprendió por enésima vez con aquellas revistas, pero ya no lo regañó, lo miró a los ojos y le dijo: “Carlos Enrique, usted tiene facilidad para el dibujo y mucha imaginación; algún día hará revistas con historietas educativas que enseñarán a los niños en la forma que a usted le gusta aprender”.
Esas palabras fueron proféticas. Años más tarde aquel niño travieso e inquieto, crearía a Tricolín, haría historietas, publicaría miles de revistas educativas y finalmente produciría dibujos animados.
Por eso, Carlos Enrique Figueroa ha dedicado cada uno de esos logros de su vida profesional:

68 years ago a child was born in the still rural area of Cartago.  He was the fourth of five children born to the matrimony formed by Rafael Angel Figueroa and Graciela Quesada.  Don Rafael Angel was hard working farmer with high moral values.  Doña Graciela, a loving dedicated mother with a profound spiritual formation.
The child grew up in this exemplary family and always showed a marked inclination towards manual and artistic works, enjoying drawing and comics as a hobby.
From his first years at the French Republic School in Taras, Cartago, he managed to draw and read magazines with cowboys and supermen adventures during school hours, earning him many calls of attention, especially towards the last years of school when he had already set his goal of becoming a cartoonist and comic artist. It was then, in his last school year that he got the strong words of support that stimulated and oriented what would be his professional career.

One afternoon in a grammar class his teacher, la “niña” Amparo Martínez,  surprised him for the eleventh time with those magazines, but this time around she didn’t scold him, she just looked him in the eye and said “Carlos Enrique, you have amazing facility for drawing and great imagination, someday you will draw educational cartoons that will teach children the way that you would like to learn. ”
Those words were prophetic.  Years later that restless child, would created Tricolín, draw comics, and would publish thousands of educational magazines and finally would produce animated drawings.
That is why, Carlos Enrique Figueroa has dedicated each one of these accomplishments of his professional life to:
