ipod to seat-back display on your next flight?
Air France, Continental Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Emirates, KLM and UAL Corp.'s United Airlines will begin offering their passengers iPod seat connections, which power and charge iPods during flight and allow the video content on the devices to be viewed on seat-back displays. The service will begin in the middle of next year." Now that is pretty handy. It would definitely give me incentive to use the video iPod for tv shows from the iTunes store, instead of dealing with my laptop while the guy next to me keeps jabbing me with his elbow. On the other hand, seat-back displays aren't worth much when the person in front of you reclines. But heck, at least it would charge my iPod... those 6 hour flights are a real drain on the batteries. Today's Link Zen
Guidelines for Platonic Friendships: "Punishable by instant sex" hahaha Why Women Don't Care About HDTV: This article makes me feel a little violent. But maybe I'm just offended by the idea that I have to belong to one club or the other (geek girls or girly girls). I can own my Coach bag and HDTV at the same time, dammit. I sincerely hope the article was written as satire :) A Random linkage

I think I just lost a little respect for Moby
Moby Wants Gay Children. "[Gay children] are less likely to get into a fight and less likely to date rape people. I'm straight but I've grown up around gay people and gay clubs. They are superior to straight people. If you have a gay child you're more inclined to be a prouder parent." What?? Can we say stereotyping? And having lived with a couple gay men, superior is not a word I'd use (sorry guys :P) I mean, I won't be caring what orientation my children are, and I'll be proud regardless. Is he afraid if he has straight children that they'll be out fighting and date raping? Imagine how much therapy his poor children are going to need! A Random linkage

I thought this headline was a joke: Heineken to Track Beer By Satellite. No really, it has practical applications. A Random linkage

Linkage
Since I previously mentioned a Firefox 2 tweak, I thought I'd also point out the newest extension I've downloaded. I'm a tab whore, and always leave tons of tabs open between sessions. Aging Tabs fades older tabs and highlights your current tab. Just a bit of useful eye candy :) [Via Lifehacker] Also, a WTF link... "Fourteen percent of those [Indian men] surveyed said they had had sex with a member of their own family." I hope they were at least second cousins... A Random linkage

Hannibal Rising
Thomas Harris has published another Hannibal novel! I just pre-ordered it on Amazon... He touched on Hannibal's youth a bit in "Hannibal", but I'm excited to read more on his childhood and what made him the man he became in the novels.

Happy Halloween
Just for kicks... carve yourself a virtual pumpkin. I didn't do too terribly much for Halloween this year. TiVo had their annual party yesterday, so today feels anticlimactic. One year ago today, I moved into my new apartment, and didn't get a single trick-or-treater. There was however, a dead body found in a neighbors' apartment. So yeah, I'm guessing no trick-or-treaters tonight. I should acquire candy just in case :) Bob and I went to the Winchester Mystery House Flashlight Tour over the weekend. Not so much a haunted house, but certainly a little creepy, and a different perspective of the Winchester House. A Random linkage

Firefox2
Yes, I know... I've been scarce. I'm considering ditching the whole weblog thing. In fact, I'm moving servers, and I'm not sure I want to deal with a Movable Type import again. So I may end up with a plain front page pointing to my Flickr, del.icio.us, Bloglines feeds, and Livejournal. We'll see. I upgraded to Firefox2. First thing I didn't like was the close button on each tab. This seems to be a common complaint, but here's how to change it back. Load about:config in the address bar, then change browser.tabs.closeButtons to 3. Yay! (This should totally be an option in the ui menus) I do love that Session Saver is now integrated, since I have a bad habit of leaving many many tabs open to read later. Unfortunately, it's not a default, so you need to choose the behavior for when Firefox starts, under Options->Main. A Technology
