Moshi Monsters is a virtual pet game created by a company called Mind Candy.
It is fun to play, engaging, and challenging aswell. It is mainly aimed at the under 13 year old crowd.
Players will need to register, sign in, and choose a monster to adopt. It is a monitored site which is advocated as being safe, fun and also educational. It is a social networking type site that has a virtual world for users to interact with each other. The graphics are very well made and is suitable for both girls and boys, though it is mostly popular among girls.
Social Network
The social network aspect allows players to send messages and interact with other monsters, teaching them online communication skills and online safety.
Currency
There is an in-game money called Rox, which can be earned by completing puzzles that teach spelling, literacy, maths, and general knowledge. The money can be used within the game only, to purchase virtual objects like household items, clothing, and food for their adopted monster.
Rewards
As the player progresses to a further level, they are rewarded with trophies which can be displayed on a shelf in the monters house. This encourages them to play more, and helps to boost the players confidence, giving them added motivation to continue playing.
Monsters can be named, clothed, and fed according to the user’s desire. This gives them a feeling of ownership of the monster.
