Can you guess what this is? Tell me in the comments. I’ll update Monday morning with the correct answer.

UPDATE: Lots of great guesses—it definitely does look like a martini glass. But Chris Cummings (who said, “The base of a CRT screen?”) takes it! This is a photo from a CRT remanufacturing shop in India, where workers were cutting off the electron guns from the backs of computer CRTs to remanufacture them as televisions. Here, a CRT in the process of being remanufactured cools on a rack.

It’s a funnel resting in a metal half circle like the out of focus one behind it but at a downward angle, draining into a flexible plastic tubing. As for the rest, I’m guessing a black man doing science.

it looks like a funnel with metal holder and a flask or a transparent plastic pipe. what’s inside and what’s the usage is another question.

Portland OR where I live, is – Free Geek- a computer recycling non profit organization. They take in PC’s and Macs, service them then install Unix, than resell them for a minimal price. Computers too ancient are stripped of parts for recycling- the CRT screens are sent to India, most likely for TV’s as in this article.
I’m wondering, are the TV’s sold within India and the middle east or are they sold throughout the world?
