News Flash!: Bill Tracking - HB1745
Bill for an Act #2, from the 2011 AHCC convention, was filed by Representative Faye Hanohano, Chair of the House Hawaiian Affairs Committee. It is now HB1745 with this description: "Waives the fees for certified copies of birth, marriage, divorce, or death certificates when the certificates are required to prove that an individual is a qualified Native Hawaiian for purposes of the Native Hawaiian Roll."
A copy of the HB1745 is being presented to the Native Hawaiian Roll Commission this morning by Annelle Amaral who authored the AHCC version. Broad support and testimony will be needed when this bill comes before committee as the Department of Health will probably not want to lose the income generated by the certificate fees.
We will do our best to alert the Hawaiian community when HB1745 is posted for a hearing.
Mahalo Representative Hanohano.
