Welcome
Funds raised in 2012 Canary Challenge will be donated to the Stanford Cancer Institute (SCI) to benefit cancer research and innovative supportive care programs. Cancer strikes about one in three women and one in two men in the United States. Canary Foundation, the producer of the event, is committed to identifying early stage cancers to save lives.
344 riders participated in the inaugural event last year and raised $421,000 for the Stanford Cancer Institute. In 2012, Canary Challenge cyclists will ride with the goal of raising $1 million for the SCI.
The Canary Challenge is a fully supported bike ride, offering 50-kilometer, 75-kilometer, 100 kilometer, 100-mile rides — all with multiple food and water stops, mechanical and medical assistance, and plenty of SWAG. The rides cater to all levels of cycling strength — from children, to fixed gear bikes and tandems, to time trial champions, the Canary Challenge is a ride for the family!
All four rides cruise through the foothills of the Bay Area Peninsula, with the 100-km and 100-mi routes taking cyclists up and over Skyline Boulevard, through Pescadero and San Gregorio, onto Highway 1, and up the coast.
