First Impression:
Here's a review of Gang Bang Squad. The site's title should clue you in, it has videos and pictures of gals getting picked up off the street and doing a gang bang with 3 or 4 guys at their place. The outside of the site and the inside are both pretty straightforward really. So let's get to the review.
Review:
The members main page presents you with this week's update in the main part of the page, a small navigation menu on the left with a few ads underneath (nothing obtrusive), and the rest of the main area is access to the other sites in the network, updates to the network, links to downloadable iPod video clips, plugin and help links. The navigation menu is a little confusing at first with it bringing up lists of sites rather than the "videos" and "pictures" pages, but with a little trial-and-error you'll notice everything there is links to content and Gang Bang Squad is first on the list. I find it a little jarring that clicking any link to the site's content opens into a new browser window as this means you have to close the new window to get back to the site's main page.
Moving about the content area is super easy, there's no navbar but the pictures and videos are both linked under the episode's thumbnails, and nearly every link on the pages gets you to someplace you want to go whether it be the next picture page, the videos page, even the profile page, they all have links moving you throughout the episode and to the episode index. Each video page has links to all the clips in that video in that size, as well as links to the other sizes. The only ad is a straight up one for buying their DVDs, and a misleading one to download full-length movies which takes you to a pay-per-view video site.
The gals range in attractiveness from ok to pretty cute, and are a variety from sporty to shapely. It seems like there's a lot of blondes, but there is a good variety of women here. The action is generally our model doing 2 guys while a couple other dudes watch and wait their turn, sometimes it'll get more busy, and as promised - it's no holes barred.
There are currently 85 episodes on the site updated once every two weeks, they're dated and go all the way back to August of 2003. Each episode has 1 video cut up into various clips, the number of clips varies on what size you're viewing at. Unfortunately there's no way to just watch the whole video just by clicking 1 link, but at least navigating the vids is ultra simple.
Videos are offered in 2 formats, WMV and QuickTime, at 3 qualities each - 56k, DSL, and Broadband. Each video runs about 50 minutes long, the length of the clips depends on what quality you choose, so the broadband clips are 5 minutes each while the 56k vids are just 2 minutes a piece and there are more of them. The WMVs claim to be in 2 sizes, 320x240 and 640x480, but the truth is that the larger ones are the exact same files just stretched to a larger view - this works alright for the Broadband clips, but the 56k and DSL suffer pretty bad. The WMV bit rates vary even from clip to clip in the same video, but are around 35 to 55Kbps at 56k quality; 140 to 160Kbps at DSL quality; and 520 to 659Kbps at Broadband quality. The videos stream in and play pretty smoothly in both formats at DSL and Broadband qualities, the WMVs are choppy at 56k but the 56k QuickTimes are noticeably smoother so go with them if you have to use the 56k vids.
The video quality is all right for internet "reality" porn at the Broadband and even DSL qualities, but 320x240 is pretty freakin' small so there's no excuse for them not to be really. The 56k video doesn't fare well in either format, it's just too chewed up shrunk down so much. The camera work is fairly "amateur" so it moves around all the time yet does manage to stay focused on the subjects and action pretty well. Most of the shots are medium distance of the girls with a few close-ups thrown in. The lighting is good, nothing I saw got lost or inky, and the action gets the best lighting. The sound relies entirely on the camcorder mic which means talking gets lost unless they're up close, this can get annoying, but action sound better.
Each episode has around 200 photos, some are separately-shot pictures while others are just video captures, they're all about 800x530 either tall or wide. The photos look pretty good, the vidcaps aren't as clear as the separate stills but both do alright really, and look particularly decent for their 65 to 135k file size. The photos cover the majority of the scenes pretty well, but there is some pic-to-pic repetition where one pic is taken close to the previous so it looks like a flipbook of shots.
Plenty of bonus content here, with a section for iPod clips from Gang Bang Squad and 18 other sites on their network; access to all 24 regularly-updated sites on the network; access to 117 other video sites and 60 other picture sites in plugin feeds; and a "reading room" with free access to advice on girls, a few flash porn-oriented games, lots of sexy comic strips, some hentai and animated porn, even a stories site (you know, the "reading" part of "reading room").
The main drawback to this site are the videos as their quality is only all right in the higher 2 qualities and totally sucks in the 56k quality. Also, bi-weekly updates aren't as good as weekly updates, of course. And there's no up-front price on the initial join page. You have to create a username and password AND choose your access option without knowing their prices in advance.
Summary:
Gang Bang Squad has a variety women going back to the guys' place and having a gang bang. It's got a good amount of episodes with several types and qualities of videos, good pictures, and lots of bonus content. Getting around the members area isn't too tough after you get a feel, and you aren't buried in ads. The videos are small though and a strain to hear half the time, but there is around 70 hours of video content and new episodes added every other week. The bottom line is if you're looking for a "reality" gang bang site and lots of bonus content, Gang Bang Squad does get a recommend.
