We care about where our food comes from, we care how it is grown, and we care about the footprint we leave behind.”

- Dr. John Reganold, Regents Professor of Soil Science and Agroecology

spacer Cultivating the Future – Washington State University is developing innovative solutions to some of the most important problems we face in society today, by leading research and educational efforts in agriculture, food and natural resources systems. WSU is dedicated to finding a balance between our needs and our resources while addressing the triple bottom line of economic prosperity, environmental quality, and social justice.

WSU is rethinking existing strategies in agriculture, developing new connections statewide and globally, and investing in a system of resiliency. Our faculty and partners are working on exciting projects including energy and nutrient recovery from organic wastes, improving the management of alternative marketing systems, use of biologically-based management practices and technologies to reduce pesticide use, “space-aged” technology for managing agricultural inputs, and the development of new, sustainable farming systems.

WSU is more than a resource for information on sustainable agriculture production practices. It is a catalyst for cutting edge research and education on critical issues facing agriculture, such as climate change, energy and water security, and improving technology and management knowledge to make our agricultural production systems more viable.
