Sing, dance, laugh and learn a new language? Sound tough? Think it’s possible? Just ask creators, Felipe and Soleil. They have produced an album specifically projected to help learning the basics of the Spanish language for all ages.

First-off you get the impression that, Sing With Senor has been professionally recorded and produced by talented musicians and teachers. Who, above all, have put their hearts and soul into this project, as the joyous atmosphere that emanates from the recordings proves beyond doubt.

The songs are catchy sing-a-long tunes. Naturally the music is dominated by tastefull, spanish flavoured guitar rhythms, and perfectly sung.

Also layered with beautiful choruses and colourful counter harmonies, the album is very endearing and easy on the ear. Every now and then you even get the urge to get up and dance, as the rhythms weave their hypnotic web.

The production engineers have been careful so as to produce vocal arrangements that are very present and clear. The lead voice stays upfront in the music mix, so everyone from little toddlers to grown-ups, can easily follow and understand the simple words and phrases used.

Sing with Senor music, teaches the basics of the Spanish language through simple lyrics and infectious melodies. The creators, Felipe and Soliel, have developed their songs for not only teachers and students, but for parents and children, to enjoy learning or teaching the language in a fun and creative way.

Sing with Señor is an idea born years ago while Felipe Canete was teaching Spanish to middle school students in Seattle, WA. Having realized that a lot of the songs used to teach Spanish were traditional music from different countries in South America, he wanted to introduce art into his teaching and one day, inspired by his students, started to play the guitar and wrote an original song for the students. They loved singing the song and then asked to make more. It was clear that the students were learning while expressing themselves through songs that they could sing and through simple lyrics that they could follow. He started to write songs that would fit the curriculum but at the same time would be fun and catchy to sing.

The tracks contained on the album are:

1.- Uno Dos – (One Two)

2.- Las Vocales – (The Vowels)

3.- Pie de Arcoiris – (Rainbow Pie)

4.- Los Deportes – (Sports)

5.- Los Animales – (The Animals)

6.- Los dias de la semana – (Days Of The Week)

7.- Como te llamas tu? – (What is your name)

8.- Al lado de… – (Next to…)

9.- Once, Doce – (Eleven, Twelve)

10.- La Familia – (The Family)

The songs on the album basically cover the most common and popular phrase types you need to learn, understand and pronounce correctly. Learning them by singing, is just such a cool and easy way of doing it.

Do you remember your school or college days? Do you remember trying to learn and recite a poem from a text book?

Now, do you remember how you memorized the lyrics to all your favourite pop songs?

You were able to sing them all in a row, one after the other. With your eyes closed and your hands tied behind your back!

Over and over again.

Without ever having to read one single line from any book?

Well, Sing With Senor produces that exact effect.

So sing, dance, laugh and learn a new language today!

Felipe Canete

Felipe has a degree in business and works as a professional actor and musician teaching theater and Spanish in different schools in Seattle. He is also a member of a Seattle world band called Luc and the Lovingtons. He started to develop his artistic career when, as a child, he participated as a singer and dancer in different local festivals in Chile.

“I’ve tried these songs with many schools and students and I can tell you that the songs are a gift from the Universe to children and adults learning the Spanish language. It feels wonderful to catch a student humming these songs as they walk in the door, learning Spanish without knowing it. I wanted to make these songs accessible to students and teachers around the world and that is when I decided that it was time to compile these songs onto a CD.” -Felipe

Soleil Kelley

Soleil is a musician and producer from the Methow Valley, WA. He is a talented, versatile, multi-instrumentalist that wishes he had catchy songs to learn Spanish with as a kid. When he’s not performing with Luc and the Lovingtons, Soleil is a full time musician, crafting his own music and producing the music of Seattle’s local talent.
