Founded by Dr. Stephen P. Leatherman, the National Healthy Beaches Campaign (NHBC) is a demonstrated commitment to promote awareness of health, safety and environmental issues facing all beaches. We continually review and evaluate beach destination worldwide and certify destinations that are shown to be consistent with our core principles. (About Us)

The NHBC "Certified Healthy Beach" designation is reserved only for those beaches that have been carefully reviewed and considered by our evaluators in accordance with important health, safety and environmental criteria. For each listed beach, we have evaluated the water quality, sand quality, cleanliness, general safety, environmental management and services offered. (View List)
