I am Hugo O’Doherty, a writer and journalist.

My first articles were published in the college newspapers of Trinity College Dublin, from where I graduated in 2009. I spent the summer of that year working as a reporter for The Ghanaian Times in Accra, Ghana, an experience that gave me very fond memories and professional experience. Africa, and Ghana in particular, is a major interest of mine.

After graduating from a Masters in International Journalism at the Dublin Institute of Technology in early 2011 I moved to Montreal for a year to further my personal and professional life. Before that I helped launch a features magazine called SCOPE with five other young journalists in Dublin. I reside currently in New York City.

I have been published in numerous newspapers, including The Irish Times, and was recently hired to work on a new sports magazine called The Sports Arena. Please see the Portfolio page for a small selection of my work.

My writing is not limited to media. Currently I am in the initial stages of working on a novel and I am also a songwriter.
