Dr. Randy Anderson is the inaugural Howard Phillips Eminent Scholar Chair in Real Estate at UCF. In this role, he directs the research and education institute at the Dr. P. Phillips School of Real Estate, a part of the College of Business Administration. Anderson has been active in the real estate business since 1991 as a researcher, owner, investor and strategist. He is the owner of a boutique investment-banking firm in Winter Park, Fla., that provides debt, mezzanine and equity financing for real estate projects throughout the United States. The company also participates in developing and acquiring multi-family properties in the southeast. Anderson has also served as president of CNL Real Estate Advisors in Orlando, where he was responsible for overseeing CNL’s non-Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) transactions, including research, origination, acquisition, finance and management. Under his leadership, CNL Real Estate Advisors was one of the most successful startups in the national company’s history and managed nearly $700 million of real estate deals in its first year of operation. Before joining CNL, he served as the Ryder Eminent Scholar Chair and a professor of Real Estate/Finance at Florida International University. While working at FIU, Anderson also served as the chief economist and director of research for Marcus & Millichap, one of the nation’s largest real estate firms. He has also served as vice president of investment research at Prudential Real Estate Investors and held the William Newman Endowed Chair of Real Estate Finance at Baruch College, the City University of New York. Anderson has published more than 50 articles, many in premier real estate journals. He also serves as a co-editor of the Journal of Real Estate Portfolio Management and the Journal of Real Estate Literature, and he has lectured at Harvard and Johns Hopkins universities. Recently, the American Real Estate Society recognized him with the Kinnard Young Scholar Award, which honors an outstanding young real estate scholar under the age of 40. Anderson holds a doctorate in Finance from the University of Alabama.
