Ocular melanosis is a blinding and painful genetic disease that primarily affects Cairn Terriers. The project's goals are to identify the gene mutation that causes ocular melanosis and to develop a test to identify affected dogs using DNA samples.

This research project aims to identify the gene and mutation responsible for a tremor syndrome which is inherited in the Weimaraner breed. Successful identification of the gene and mutation will produce a bench-based test for detection of carriers that could be used to help reduce and eventually eradicate the disease.
