Some bands view touring as a necessary evil. Others look at it with wide eyes and excitement. As a fan, touring holds a kind of unexplored romanticism. In On The Road we have artists share their touring stories as they traverse cities and countries, giving us some insight into what it’s like to live from gig to gig.

Brad Barr of The Barr Brothers on the band’s first visit to the Grand Canyon – North American Fall Tour, 2011:

So, we were in Flagstaff, Arizona with roughly four hours to kill.  We decided to drive to the Grand Canyon and set up on the rim to play a few tunes. We had a couple of iPhones and a Flip camera with us to capture the moment.  A group of four girls were the first to stop and take interest, so we asked them to help us shoot it.  Sarah Page (our harp player) almost fell of the edge when a screw fell out of her harp bench.  We played four songs, which were shot with three or four cameras. The sound is probably a little bit squirrelly (we used a couple of battery powered mini Supros amps), and some of the camera work is... let’s say “artistic”. It was fun. I also happened to leave a guitar case open and people threw a total of $33 into it, which covered our entrance fee to the park and a few cups of coffee!

Though we now know that footage of The Barr Brothers exists, I was unable to unearth it, likely because it's still sitting on their iPhones, unedited. However, I have stumbled upon some beautifully shot videos of The Barr Brothers performing in Brooklyn, courtesy of The Wild Honey Pie.  Here's "Cloud (For Lhasa)":
