Noise & Capitalism
is a collection of essays by various musicians, academics, activists
which reflects on the artist-audience binary, specifically how
“noise,” “improvised” or “free” music offers resistance
and tensions that may, at worst, provide instruments for capitalism
but also, at best, point to modes of ‘subjectlessness’. Noise
& Capitalism
is available for barter or free download at the audio lab division of
Arteleku: www.arteleku.net/noise_capitalism/ or via www.mattin.org.

Tempus Fugit.
Reasoning about sound from a pysical perspective, we can say that sound
is pressure when it propagates in a room, that it is voltage when it is
in the form of electric current and that it becomes information and bytes
when it is encoded and decoded by a personal computer. From a
metaphysical perspective, sound, passing throungh these different forms,
does not change its essence but changes in substance. What happens when
the sound of a room travels through the internet?
