spacer Kathleen Edwards (Executive Audio Wrangler) has over twenty years of experience in the music and entertainment business as a musician, and sound cat. She grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she learned the love of good music, blue skies and hot green chili. She attended The University of New Mexico with the help of a Friends of Music Scholarship and studied violin and English Literature. Upon graduating, she moved to California in 1992 where she began her professional career in music, theater, film and television.

She’s worked with world class ensembles such as The San Diego Symphony Orchestra, The San Diego Chamber Orchestra, The Mark Taper Forum & Ahmanson Theater and Walt Disney Studios, to name a few. She enjoyed titles such as Artistic Liaison (Diva Wrangler), Production and Operations Consultant (please, just make it run smoothly), Special Events Director (we need an excuse to charge people large amounts of money to come to our party), and violinist who could play Beethoven as well as the Blues.

In 1997, Kathleen began working in production sound for feature films and eventually moved towards editorial work in sound and music. She learned the ins-and-outs of music editing from the 4-time Emmy Award winning music editor, Gerry Sackman and the talented composer, Brian Kirk. Since founding Hear Kitty, she has concentrated her efforts on sound editorial and design, working on varied projects; from an urban feature film filled with hard edged city sounds, to creating a lush African soundscape on two seasons of the syndicated Television hit: Safari Tracks.

Kathleen was also the composer in residence for the MYE Theatre Company of Los Angeles and violinist with the big band, The Pretty Babies (featuring Zooey Deschanel and Samantha Shelton) before moving to Albuquerque in 2006, where she continues to rock on.

spacer Tor Kingdon (Chief Sound Guy) grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan and developed an early interest in theatre, music and film. He graduated with honors in Theatre Arts & Communications from Kalamazoo College in 1991, focusing his studies on scenic design, directing, videography and computer science. After moving to Los Angeles and working in production and cinematography, he eventually realized that he has much better ears than eyes and settled on sound post-production as a career in 1993. Since then he has been honing his listening and sound manipulation skills by working on a wide variety of music, radio, television and film projects.

Tor started his sound career in Portland, Oregon, doing everything from wiring and sound proofing to sound design and mixing. He spent roughly half of 1995 in Germany, working on American and German films at the famed Studio Babelsberg. He moved to Los Angeles in 1998 and honed his skills on radio and television advertising, TV promos, music videos and longer format projects.

In 2002, Tor co-founded Hear Kitty with Kathleen Edwards. Since then, he has also branched out considerably, participating in the recent flood of DVD releases by recording, editing and mixing commentary tracks and special features. He has also recorded ADR for TV and film, as well as dialog for animation and video games. Tor mixed several television shows in this time, including two seasons of African soundscapes on the television show Safari Tracks.

Tor fell in love with New Mexico the first time he drove through it in 1990. Years later, he fell in love with Kathleen Edwards, a native New Mexican. They got married in an adobe church in 2002, and proceeded to make plans to move to New Mexico “some day.” That day finally came in the summer of 2006, and they are very happy to call Albuquerque home.

spacer Sorren Kingdon-Edwards (intern) developed an interest in audio in utero. He continues to develop that interest and to branch out his audio capabilities using a variety of audio tools. Some of his more innovative tools include a water glass on wood, the handles of a jump rope and his “ukelady.”
