My husband's father owned the News Business in the center of High Street,
Rainham, in the 40's and 50's, and possibly 60's. His parents both died
in
the 60's while owning the NewsPrint business. My husband's name is Roger
Arthur Green. His Parents were Mabel and Arthur Reginald Green. Roger had a
paper route for his dad when young, and remembers about every address and
name on High Street.

We are visiting England and Rainham the first of September. He is still so
in love with his memories on High Street. Is there anyone who can assist me
in obtaining data on individuals who might have lived there then...and
where they might be so he can make contact prior to going over. Also, his
old business-home (top two floors) was right in the middle of town. It is
not apartments. Is there any way we can find the name of the owner of the
building or apartments to talk with them prior to our trip. He would love
talking to a town historian and anyone that might have remembered those
days and still is around the area.

I realize I am asking a lot, but if you will just give me a few places to
START looking, I do not mind doing the foot work. I am from the USA and he
lives here now - though he is still an English Citizen.

Even a way to contact the area library or history museum would be great.

Thanks for any assistance you can give me. I would like to surprise him
with some data to make his return HOME an even better experience. Thank
you. Allison Mock Green

Are you sure you mean Rainham, in Essex? There is no "High Street" here.I did a paper round here in 1955-56. Maybe you want Rainham, Kent......
