Welcome
Welcome to the website of the Department of Theatre and Dance at Appalachian State University! Our academic program offers B.A. degrees in Dance Studies, Theatre Arts (with concentrations in Performance, General or Design/ Tech)and a B.S. in Theatre Arts Education. The department also offers minors in theatre or dance and a wide variety of courses that fulfill general education requirements in wellness and the humanities. Our beginning level classes are open to all interested students.
A vibrant co-curricular production program engages our students, faculty and staff together in creative activity and scholarship projects that enhance our academic program. Our co-curricular programs include fully mounted theatre shows and dance concerts on campus well as touring productions by our Appalachian Young People’s Theatre, which is a popular outreach program throughout the region and the state. Student-produced, faculty-supervised laboratory productions in Theatre and Dance also provide co-curricular opportunities in a variety of campus and community venues. Any currently enrolled student in good standing (GPA 2.0 minimum) may audition for our co-curricular productions.

As a state educational institution we are supported, but not fully funded.
