About the CHCA

Chestnut Hill has remained a vital community since its annexation with the City more than 100 years ago. In 1947 local residents established a formal organization, the Chestnut Hill Community Association, dedicated to the social and economic well-being of the neighborhood.

The goal of the CHCA is to encourage a sense of community in Chestnut Hill and to improve the quality of life in the community.

The CHCA focuses on achieving six objectives: Leadership, Long-Range Solutions, Education, Community Fund, Participation, and Finances. To meet these ends:

* The CHCA provides leadership by accepting and sharing responsibility for the solution of problems that affect the quality of life of the Chestnut Hill community.

* The CHCA seeks comprehensive and long-range solutions which include developing priorities, identifying resources, making studies, initiating programs, cooperating with other entities, seeking to have others take responsibility, coordinating community efforts, and following other, appropriate courses of action.

* The CHCA conducts informative and educational activities, including public meetings and publication of a weekly newspaper, the award-winning Chestnut Hill Local, to inform the community about educational, environmental, social, religious, and political concerns and other issues that affect the community. The Chestnut Hill Local is an integral function of the CHCA and serves as a forum for community discourse by publishing all responsible points of view on issues affecting the community.

* The CHCA endeavors to be an active participant in all community issues and therefore maintains a permanent endowment, the Chestnut Hill Community Fund, for the preservation of the beauty of the community and improving the quality of life for its members.

* The CHCA encourages members of the community to participate in forming its policies and in carrying out its activities.

* The CHCA is dedicated to transparency in its finances by regularly balancing budgets and reporting on financial issues at all meetings.
