Creative Coast

The Creative Coast team aims to make the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site the most creative coast in the world.

The Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site is 95 miles long, and the exposed rocks from one end to the other contain 185 million years of the earth's history. That's 185 million year's worth of stories, to be uncovered and explored through the Creative Coast projects, not only looking back through time but also using this to explore the future of our planet.

Over the last three years, our arts partners have developed 26 projects involving 131 artists, 2,745 participants and audiences totalling nearly 70,000 directly and many more indirectly. Download the evaluation report:

Our new project, Creative Coast 2012 aims to connect people's imaginations with the stories of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. In order to do this, we are forming the Creative Coast Forum, a network of scientists, artists, educators, local businesses, public bodies and arts organisations.  This Forum will encourage, support and deliver the Jurassic Coast's creative programmes.  We are currently working on eight ambitious projects which will animate our Creative Coast during the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic events for which the Jurassic Coast provides the spectacular setting.  This project's main funder is Arts Council England, who are currently running a feature on the project.
