If any of these "limitations" are a "catch," so be it. They are presented simply as facts:
- R.A.P.S. websites are leased, not purchased. HirMon & Associates, Inc. retains the overall design and software rights. (See also the Terms and Conditions for use of a R.A.P.S. website. Essentially, we own the site, clients own the information that goes into the site.)
- The design of the site is "as presented" on this website, with limited cosmetic changes as noted on this page. A completely new design can be requested, but that is an additional charge that will be quoted separately (typically, custom designs start at $250.00).
- All R.A.P.S. websites are considered "temporary;" not permanent (although that can change...)
- Clients do not "own" the website, it’s design or any supporting software; they have only the right to use the site for the duration of the lease period (1 - 12 months).
- Up to 4 months of web hosting are included and $10/month extensions up to a total of 12 months are possible. After 12 months, a discounted $300 lease renewal is required.
- The maximum amount of time a R.A.P.S. website can be active is 1 year.
- We include a complimentary domain name (e.g. www.example.com) as part of the $400 subscription and at no additional. See Special cases below.
- Search engines will probably not recognize a R.A.P.S. website effectively. (It’s not our fault!) See this page for details.
- In order to sell or use the built-in R.A.P.S. shopping cart, clients must provide their own PayPal Verified Business Account for online credit card processing. Further, someone within the event’s management staff will need to add one line of information to the account so that the charges are posted to the R.A.P.S. account properly. This is optional, but recommended.
The real "catch," if there is one is this:
We will set up the site according to the information supplied to us by R.A.P.S. clients via a completed Homework Assignment (only). We require a completed Homework Assignment, because attempting to put together a website from multiple emails is confusing (to you and us) and the least-best way of putting together a website in a timely manner.
In no case will we invent or create the text and photos for use within a R.A.P.S. website.
Additional services such as:
- Creation of PDF documents, including such things as tickets, flyers, posters and brochures -
- Addition of functionality not indicated on this demonstration site -
- Coversion of a R.A.P.S. site into a conventional website for full-time, general use -
- Setting up a third-party online credit card processing account -
- Website maintenance that takes more than two (2) hours to complete for the life of a R.A.P.S. site -
- Copy writing and editing services -
- Transfer of a domain name we reserve for use with a R.A.S.P. website to another registrar
Are subject to additional charges which will be quoted separately.
Special cases:
- The domain names we provide are subject to availability and are always the COM version (e.g. HirMon.com)
- Domain names are registered for the minimum 1 year as provided by ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers); the organization that handles all domain name registrations. We will not renew domain names for R.A.P.S. clients unless instructed to do so. If so instructed (we will notify you 30 days prior to expiration), a standard $25.00 fee for the registration and administrative maintenance of the domain name will be applied.
- On client request, we will also be happy to transfer any R.A.P.S. domain name to a registrar (e.g. Register.com, GoDaddy.com) of their choice. A standard $25.00 fee applies. If there are any fees associated with the transfer on the receiving registrar, the client must pay those separately.
The reality:
We at HirMon & Associates are very good at what we do and assuming that all information is available, can set up a fully functional R.A.P.S. website in approximately 2-5 business days; schedule permitting.
9 times out of 10, the "hold up" is waiting for information from our clients that we can use to create the website. That is why the Homework Assignment is so important!
Remember: Once we have your site set up, you can freely change any typos or other "misteaks" online, personally, through the Administrative Console.
Do your homework and everything will go smoothly.
