Mambo 4.5.5 released
Written by Team Mambo
spacer
Team Mambo today released a maintenance update for the 4.5.x series of sites. Dubbed version 4.5.5, this release was motivated by the formal release of the IE7 browser, which introduced some users to template display issues. The opportunity was also taken to correct several small issues in the system, including:

(1) com_syndicate config parameter fixed
(2) RSS/SEO fixes
(3) IE7 fixes - Quirks mode and JSCookMenu update
(4) SQL injection fix in cancel edit functions

4.5.5 is only for users of the 4.5.x series. Users of the 4.6.x series should NOT install this update. All 4.5.x users are encouraged to install 4.5.5 to avoid the possibility of your site visitors experiencing display issues in IE7.

Mambo V4.6.1 out now!
Written by Team Mambo

Team Mambo has released version 4.6.1 and an SP3 version of the 4.5.4 release.

The release is a patch release designed to address problems in the following areas:

  • The 4.5.4 patch/build fixes SQL injection and XSS issues.
  • The 4.6.1 patch/build fixes the same, plus a number of minor issues found with 4.6 since its release on Sept 18.

Note that this patch does not address all the concerns raised with SEO and the Language Manager functionality in 4.6. Those issues are being discussed and will be the subject of a 4.6.2 release in the near future.

You can download V4.6.1 on Mamboxchange now.

Mambo V4.6 Out now!
Written by Ric Shreves

spacer Mambo, the award-winning Open Source Content Management System, announced today the release of version 4.6.  This is the first major release in almost two years and provides users a leaner, faster Mambo with greatly improved scalability and stability – and more choice.

Version 4.6 is being released in two configurations: “4.6 Complete” includes the core system as well as an assortment of the most popular extensions and templates. “4.6 Lite” is a minimalist distro comprised of only the core files. No longer a “one size fits all” system, Mambo now offers users unrivalled flexibility to create exactly the CMS they want, using either existing extensions, custom development, or any combination that suits their needs.

Core Dev Team Leader Chad Auld noted, “A lot of work has gone into 4.6. The result is better code, improved usability, and more logical structure. 4.6 is not only the most stable, best performing Mambo ever, but is also the most flexible.”

Ric Shreves, the President of the Mambo Foundation Board of Directors added “Mambo is a mature Open Source project with a significant history behind it. Corporate and SMB customers will, I think, find 4.6 to be a giant step closer to the sort of CMS product they want and need.  Not only is the product great, but the users also have the assurance of a stable project that stands behind it to assure business continuity and coherent release schedules – the sort of issues that build business confidence in an Open Source solution.”

Mambo V4.5.4 Security Patch 2 released
Written by Team Mambo

Team Mambo has just released Security Patch 2 for Mambo version 4.5.4. This patch fixes a number of security vulnerabilities and provides some additional hardening of the application. It is recommended that everyone apply this patch as soon as possible.

These vulnerabilities affect all recent versions of Mambo so those still running versions of Mambo older than 4.5.4, (ex) 4.5.3h, are recommended to patch up to Mambo 4.5.4 first and then apply security patches 1 & 2. We have also built a version of 4.5.4 with both security patches already applied, MamboV4.5.4_wSP2, which should be used for brand new installs. The new files can be found on Mamboxchange. The team will now refocus its attention on Mambo 4.6 and we will apply the same security changes as needed to 4.6 prior to the official release.
