History

The minutes from the library board meeting for the Colwich Community Library ended with, “Feeling that we had taken a giant step forward toward our new library the meeting was adjourned.” The date was February 27, 1961, and the present staff and board hope that these giant steps in library service continue today and into the future.

The first library building was a small, one-room school west of the present building. It was a happy day when the library moved into the present building in January of 1989.
