In response to overwhelming demand, WordPress is now available as a blogging platform for VCU students, faculty and staff. WordPress is a well-known, open-source blogging system popular for its flexible themes and easy-to-use dashboard.
To create a new blog account at VCU visit wp.vcu.edu.
Movable Type accounts are being phased out but can be accessed temporarily by logging into blog.vcu.edu.
If you have a Movable Type blog at blog.vcu.edu, you can easily move your existing content to a new WordPress blog — here’s a step-by-step guide to help you through the process. Movable Type will eventually be deactivated, so we encourage you to complete this migration as soon as possible.
wp.vcu.edu = WordPress blog
blog.vcu.edu = Movable Type blog
To figure out which you have, look at your blog’s URL. The first part of the address will either say blog or wp. New blogs should be created at wp.vcu.edu.
With WordPress, departments and other school units can now create new blogs on their own (learn how). However, if your desired blog name is in the list of keywords at go.vcu.edu or appears in one of the URLs at atoz.vcu.edu, you will still have to request a new blog using the form at ts.vcu.edu/kb/blog/1036.html.
