A

40 Years of Realising Potential

The year 2012 marks forty years of BRAC's existence. In the four decades since our inception in 1972 as a small relief and rehabilitation project in a remote corner of Bangladesh, we have grown to become one of the largest and most successful development organisations in the world. Over the course of our evolution, we have established ourselves as a pioneer in recognizing and tackling the many different realities of poverty. We have forged a highly successful development model which is comprehensive and hinges on effectively expanding grassroots innovations to create large scale impact.

This year also marks the 10th year of our operations outside of Bangladesh, starting with our entry into Afghanistan in 2002. Our work now touches the lives of 138 Million people across ten countries in Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean. We celebrate forty years of realising potential by harnessing the successes of the past to enrich our achievements in the future.
