The 2007 MusiCares Person of the Year Tribute, which honored GRAMMY-winning singer/songwriter Don Henley for his extraordinary musical achievements and his philanthropic commitment to environmental and humanitarian causes, proved to be the most successful benefit to date for the MusiCares Foundation, generating close to $4.4 million in revenue. An audience of more than 2,300 guests came together at the Los Angeles Convention Center on Feb. 9 — two days before Music's Biggest Night — to enjoy performances by the Dixie Chicks, Henley, John Mayer, Keb' Mo', Sam Moore, Michael McDonald, Timothy B. Schmit, Seal, Trisha Yearwood, and Shawn Colvin. The evening's hosts were Ed Begley Jr. with Bernie Taupin.

The Person of the Year benefit began with a cocktail reception and silent auction sponsored by AEG featuring artwork, music and sports memorabilia; travel, hotel and spa packages; and VIP concert experience packages. A gala dinner, live auction and tribute concert sponsored by VeriSign followed. Attendees included MusiCares Foundation and Recording Academy President Neil Portnow, and MusiCares Foundation Board Chairman Leslie E. Bider, who also served as dinner chairs. Other dinner chairs included music and entertainment industry executives Irving Azoff, Timothy Leiweke and Leslie Moonves. Past MusiCares Person of the Year honorees Natalie Cole and Brian Wilson were in also attendance. In addition, a host of celebrities including Jackson Browne and Garth Brooks, along with prominent music industry and entertainment executives, joined the festivities.

Proceeds from the annual Person of the Year tribute provide essential support for MusiCares, which ensures that music people have a place to turn in times of financial, medical and personal need.
