MCAG is an association of city and county governments, with members who meet to solve regional problems such as transportation, solid waste, and air quality. This Association of Governments is where the cities and the county come together as equal partners to solve problems that can only be accomplished by working together.

Hubert "Hub" Walsh, Chair
MCAG Governing Board
`

I am honored to serve as the 2011/2012 Chair of the Merced County Association of Governments (MCAG) Governing Board. My colleagues and I, who include an elected official from each of the six cities and an elected official from each of the five county districts, also serve as the Transit Joint Powers Authority for Merced County and the Merced County Regional Waste Management Authority Board.

We are pleased to share within our webpages the many projects ongoing through the MCAG office. Our responsibilities include managing and implementing regional transportation, transit and solid waste service, as well providing a forum to discuss issues that require cooperation and collaboration among multiple cities and the county. Topics range from recycling education, exploration of possible collaborative service options as well as locating funding for permanent housing for the regions homeless population.

MCAG is the place where, the elected officials, and the general public, can participate in discussions at the regional level to help address the many issues facing our communities today. We are each committed to working together, not as an individual city/county, but as a region, in addressing our common services and goals.

I welcome your involvement through one of MCAG’s several committees or by signing up for our bi-monthly newsletter.
