AC3Filter 1.30b

* AC3 loudness increased by +6dB. Now it matches loudness of other decoders. I was noted about this problem a long time ago, but I wanted to be sure what I'm doing, because new version produces overflow with LOTS of movies. I checked everything and found that it is not a bug of the decoder, but mastering issues. Other decoders also produce the same overflow at the same places. Therefore, new version works as it must work.

Some notes about how to handle these overflows you may read here: AC3 overflows in movies

* Some Vista compatibility issues fixed (matrix editing works and gains are saved correctly). But problem with SPDIF output stays. I did some reseach and almost sure that problem is with sound card drivers.

* A small issue with WMP fixed: sometimes it made 2 tray icons.

AC3Filter 1.20b

* Now we can play multi-channel audio CD without any conversion! Just insert multi-channel CD into CD drive and open it with Windows Media Player or Media Player Classics. (Or you can use any other DirectShow media player that can playback AudioCD. Winamp IS NOT DirectShow player and does not work!)

* Also, we can playback .wav files ripped from multi-channel CD (that produced just noise before) without any conversion!

* New method of DTS over SPDIF passthrough allows to transmit DTS streams that was impossible to transmit before!

* Fixed work with 14-bit DTS files that was played back incorrectly (like fast forward).

* SPDIF input support. This will allow to decode external SPDIF source at future...

AC3Filter 1.11. Stable release.

* Now filter saves output settings to preset. So now you can create presets with different output configurations.
* Tray icon and some other options display fixed
* Fixed crash with TMPGEnc

AC3Filter 1.10b. Tray icon added!

Work on stability continues. Now filter shows good stability, therefore its status changes to beta and it may be recommended to replace any previous version.

Some additional work was done:
* Tray icon to access filter's settings from players that do not allow to configure filters.
* Sometimes SPDIF mode cannot be set because of post-processing filters that do not support SPDIF output. Now it's an additional option to force this problem. Read here for more info. (Thanks to LESAGE Aurelien for testing)
* DivX player now works with SPDIF

Known problems still not fixed:
* AC3 encode mode does not work with some receivers
* Incorrect playback of some 14bit DTS files

WinampAC3 v1.01a with DTS and SPDIF support!

New WinampAC3 version! It is based on the latest AC3Filter v1.09a code and supports all its features. AC3Filter code is now stable, but most of old winamp plugin code was rewritten and just roughly tested. Therfore it should be considered as ALFA release. If you need stable plugin version use WinampAC3 0.60b.

Tested with Winamp 5 but should work with Winamp 2 as well.

I'm back

I'm back and this means that project is alive! Now I'm reading mail and forum posts. And as far as I can see it is not too much of new problems. Several final touches and filter can be considered to be stable.

I'm out till September!

I'm going to have a rest at Hibiny moutains at Kola Peninsula and therefore will be out of civilization and communications :). I return at the beginning of September. And I hope that current version is stable enough to stand the test :).

Pelase do not hesitate to write all your questions, problems and bug reports at forum. I'll certainly read and answer everything after coming back. But don't forget that Documentation contains much of useful information. SPDIF setup is described in details at forum.

Don't forget to vote for a most wanted feature. Vox populi, vox Dei, and your voice will be certainly heard.

Last versions to use:
AC3Filter 1.09a - last alfa of 1.x line. Unfortunately it still work not in all cases.
AC3Filter 0.70b - last stable version. Has no benefits of 1.x line and supports only AC3 format. But works stable even in SPDIF mode.

Other useful programs of this project:
*AC3File: allows media players to read any kind of AC3 and DTS files (8/14/16 bit, big/low endian, SPDIF padded streams, MPEG1/2 PES-wrapped streams).
*vac3acm: ACM codec that allows applications like VirtualDub to work with AC3 and DTS audio tracks.
*WimampAC3: Winamp plugin to playback AC3 files.

More work with player compatibility.

Most problems with compatibility with different players was fixed at v1.07a. I hope that this version will work flawlessly with most players. If you have problems with AC3Filter and your favorite player, please report at support forum! It is the best way to eliminate the problem!
