Final Symphony Concert has French Flavoring
The final symphony series concert of the 2011-2012 season presents two works by great French composers, and the premiere of a composition by a local composer who teaches in France during the summer. The program begins with the world premiere of Impromptus and Arabesques by Philadelphian Benjamin C.S. Boyle. The concert continues with the Violin Concerto No. 1 by Henryk Wieniawski as performed by Amy Semes, winner of the DCS's 30th Annual Youth Concerto Competition. The second half of the program consists of two French masterworks - the Suite Masques et Bergamasques by Gabriel Fauré, and Iberia by Claude Debussy. The concert will be presented at 3:00 P.M. on May 6 at the Neumann University Meagher Theatre. Please note that the pre-concert lecture at 2:00 P.M. will be held in the Meagher Theatre, and not in the McNichol Room.
