A Few Words…

We at SISO look forward to hosting Smackdown 2012 at the Spring SIW (Simulation Interoperability Workshop). Last year’s inaugural event was an auspicious success brought about through the support and enthusiasm of our participants and the members of the modeling and simulation community.  Smackdown 2012 promises to be even better and offers more opportunities to play and take part.

  • The SISO Smackdown 2012 offers a unique opportunity – an international adventure – for student teams to experience modeling and simulation (M&S) interoperability
  • Teams share a memorable interactive problem solving experience – a virtual resupply mission to the moon using SISO standards, the latest industry software and NASA content.
  • Each team selects what it wants to create, bringing it all together – remotely and in person at the Simulation Interoperability Workshop in Orlando in March 2012.
  • This Smackdown 2012 Starter Kit provides information on how to form a team and why Smackdown 2012 is important to M&S.
  • The Smackdown simulates professional M&S methodology demading solid effort among interdisciplinary, and dispersed, diverse teams – something few classes can offer students.
  • Additionally, a new Pre-Phase A Smackdown 2012 will introduce pre-simulation students to M&S through 3D modeling.
  • The Smackdown enhances a students employability & job readiness for work in a green, recession-proof industry that is creating jobs to power the economy and make a better world.
  • Smackdown 2012 creates a strong professional network, valuable information resources and increases their credibility and visibility in the job market.
