About
NonaBrooklyn is all about good food. By ‘good,’ we mean local, artisanal, sustainable and/or traditional food and drink made by people with a passion for what they do.
Brooklyn is full of people growing, making, serving and selling food you can feel good about. At Nona, our goal is to bring everything you need to know about that food and the people behind it.
We Serve:
stories
We believe that knowing who makes your food and how it’s made makes the whole experience of eating a lot more interesting. Since you might not have the time to share a beer or a cup of coffee with all your local growers, makers, purveyors and chefs, we sit down with them for you, to bring you their stories in their own words.
the chalkboard
Food purveyors have used sidewalk chalkboards for years to tout specials, news and events. We’ve pulled those sidewalk chalkboards into one place…So you don’t have to walk all over Brooklyn to find out ’What’s good today?’ Of course, we only include the chalkboards from establishments making good food and drink.
the guide
There are thousands of people out there growing, making, serving and selling good food in and around Brooklyn. We’ll help you discover them with our ‘Good Food Guide.’ No chains, no junk here. Just the good stuff. Browse, search by neighborhood, and/or the type of food or business you’re looking for.
news
And of course, the news. We bring you coverage of openings, closings, events and more.
who are we?
We are Peter & Alison Hobbs and Steve Mayne – three friends and good food fiends who became obsessed with Brooklyn’s food culture a few years ago, but found themselves frustrated that there was no one source of information dedicated to pulling together everything you needed to know about ‘good food’ in Brooklyn.
Since launching Nona, we’ve been joined by a killer crew of contributing writers and photographers, including Allison Robicelli, Carolyn Stanley, Cathy Erway, Donny Tsang, Clay Williams, Jacque Lynn Schiller, Joanna Shaw Flamm, Leda Meredith, Thomas Santella, Valery Rizzo – the list of friends and contributors keeps growing, and we hope you’ll join us and help spread the word!
