Select 4 Issue 2 released to subscribers
The latest version of RISC OS Select has
been shipped to subscribers and is now available for download by
subscribers. Full details are available on the RISC OS Six website.
This is the most up to date version of RISC OS and now supports many
features, that were un-released in the RISC OS Six Select 4 Preview.

RISC OS 6 Preview now available .
RISCOS Ltd are pleased to announce the immediate availability of RISC OS 6 Preview for Select subscribers.
All Select subscribers who have renewed their subscription since the release of Select3i4 (30th May 2004) may download the preview version from
the Select website now.
Members who have kept their subscription up to date or who join at the Birmingham ARM Club show this Saturday (25th November) may collect a RISC
OS 6 Preview CD at the event, subject to stock.
The RISC OS 6 Preview release gives RiscPC, A7000 and VirtualRPC ADJ users
an opportunity to experience recent developments within RISC OS through the
Select scheme.

RISC OS Select discussion group to move to GoogleGroups with immediate effect.
With the impending closure of the SmartGroups system at the end of November 2006, the RISC OS Select Discussion Group has now moved to the GoogleGroups with immediate effect.
N.B You need to register with the GoogleGroups system before you can access the RISC OS Select Discussion group (if you are not already a GoogleGroups member).
Goto GoogleGroups Account Management and then choose "Create an account now".
You need to use the same username (email address) as you previously had
with the SmartGroups. You will then be able to Register with the
GoogleGroup for RISC OS Select.

Patch for !PC Pro available for Download
Following the release into the public domain of the !PCPro application for use with
Acorn PC Cards on Risc PC, we are able to make available for download a patch for !PCConfig to work with RISC OS Select and Adjust.

RISC OS 4 is now 32 bit safe.
RISC OS 4.02 to be replaced by RISC OS 4.39 "Adjust" ROMs. Some of the planned features for Select 4 are announced.

RISCOS Ltd announces that RISC OS Select 4 will be derived from the conversion of RISC OS 4 sources to be fully 32 bit neutral as part of the work being done on the A9 computer.

RISCOS Ltd start to gauge level of interest in 32 bit Select, following the decision by Castle Technology to cease the Merlin project following the
agreement made to leave RISCOS Ltd to develop RISC OS desktop features via the Select scheme.

Select 3 Issue 4 available for Download
This version contains RISC OS 4.39 as featured in
the Adjust ROM issue. This update for Select 3 includes substantial improvements
to the Toolbox modules as well as all the other features of the Adjust ROMs.

Patch for RISC OS 4.02 !Boot available for Download
In order to be able to switch between RISC OS Select
and RISC OS 4.02 once the new Toolbox modules are installed a patch is required
to the RISC OS 4.02 !Boot. This is now available for
download from the Downloads section of the
Select Private Area. This patch will resolve issues with errors relating to
Toolbox Gadgets not being set, when attempting to return to RISC OS Select after
having used RISC OS 4.02.

RiscStation now fully supported.
The RiscStation R7500 is now fully supported by Select. The
forthcoming RISC OS 4.32 Release of Select will for the first
time support all three current RISC OS platforms.
!Printers+ Frontend to be released via SourceForge.
We will be releasing the Source Code to the Frontend of
!Printers+ as a publicly accessible collaborative project via the
SourceForge Web Site.

Open�Source�software�development� website, with the largest
repository of Open Source code and applications available on
the Internet. www.SourceForge.net/ provides free
services to Open Source developers.
We would like to point out that this does not signify that RISC
OS is to become an Open Source Operating System, but in
order to allow greater development of certain components we
are making this release of !Printers+ source for non-chargeable
use by Developers. The actual availability of the code on the SourceForge site will be announced at a later date.
Please note that this release will not include the back-end
PrinterDumpers. We will endeavour to support developers
who need help in gaining information from Printer
Manufacturers about their current Printer ranges, or who
require detailed information of the back-end functions of
!Printers+. Any Company or Individual who would be
interested in administering the SourceForge site should

This is the final issue of Select
Release 1.
The items to be downloaded are the new Select Installer, the RISC OS
4.29 ROM image and the latest versions of the hard disc components.
All Select users should download and install all these items as they
contain numerous updates from previous Select releases. CDs have
started shipping and should reach everyone sometime in the next
week.

How much memory do I need to install Select
4?
The RISC OS Select 4 ROM image uses up to 6MB of
memory. Along with other memory requirements this means you will need a
minimum of 16MB memory in order to install a RISC OS Select ROM
image. 32MB is recommended for optimum operation.

Amongst the new features now implemented in RISC OS Select is
