RFA Says Pres. Obama Denies Congress Request For More Public Oceans Comment

March 30, 2012 - House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Doc Hastings (R-WA) received official notice from the Obama Administration this denying the Chairman's request for a 90-day extension of the public comment period on the draft National Ocean Policy Implementation plan. The Recreational Fishing Alliance (RFA) has been a longtime critic of the over burdensome bureaucracy of the National Oceans Policy, what RFA executive director Jim Donofrio calls "a complete takeover" of our U.S. oceans by radical, anti-access agenda. RFA Says It's Time For Angler Boycott Of Wal-Mart Giant

August 17, 2011 - Wal-Mart announced efforts to help fund the demise of the U.S. fishing industry while working to ensure that the next generation of sportsmen gets less access to coastal resource than at any point in American history. By contributing over $36 million towards marine reserves and catch share programs, the Walton family has turned its back on local fishing communities. Shopping for fishing equipment at Wal-Mart is contributing directly to the demise of our sport, its supporting lost fishing opportunities and decreased coastal access for all Americans, said RFAs Jim Donofrio in calling for a national angler boycott of the corporate giant. Over 80% Of Those Polled Believe In Greenwashing Conspiracy

July 15, 2011 For over a decade, RFA has been vocal about the infusion of preservationist rhetoric and green funding into the world of fisheries management, what executive director Jim Donofrio often refers to as showroom environmentalism. Recently, Big Game Fishing Journal conducted a poll in which 80% of the respondents (201 out of 250) believe theres a huge conspiracy in progress by groups like Pew Environment Group and Environmental Defense Fund to get U.S. coastal anglers off the water! RFA Announces "Stay Away From Safeway" National Boycott

April 27, 2011 - According to a recent press release from Safeway, the corporate grocery giant is openly endorsing California's Marine Life Protection Act (MLPA) initiative under which large areas of state waters are being closed possibly forever to public fishing access. RFA is urging all its members, recreational anglers, divers and anyone who cares about sustainable fisheries to "Stay Away From Safeway" until the company reverses its position on the MLPA Initiative and ceases funding towards radical anti-fishing advocates. Overfishing, An Arbitrary "Term of Art"

For years the "overfishing" words has been used by environmental writers and media outlets to warn Americans about the impending collapse of our global fisheries has been taken grossly out of context. The difference between statutory and biological definitions however is what's destroying America's fishing industry, and it's exactly why the RFA calls the word overfishing a simple "term of art."
