spacer Climbing tall in Blackpool
A seven metre high climbing wall is the first in a series of activities being introduced by Blackpool Coastal Housing to engage young people in the town.

The mobile wall is coming to several areas across Blackpool, including Highfield, Grange Park and Mereside, as young people can take part in a two hour session each week in their area for 12 weeks.

The project, is a partnership between Blackpool Council and Blackpool Coastal Housing, with the funding for it provided through the Tenants’ Project Fund.

The sessions are fully supervised and are suitable for all ages and abilities, with excellent progression routes for students to continue to excel.

The weekly sessions begin:
• Every Friday from 16th March, 4 - 6pm at Cherwell Centre, Grange Park for six weeks.
• Every Saturday from 17th March, 11am - 1pm at Highfield Humanities College, Highfield Road for 12 weeks.
• Every Saturday from 17th March, 3 - 5pm at Mereside Green, Langdale Road.for 12 weeks.
• Every Friday from 27th April, 4-6pm, City Learning Centre, Dinmore Avenue, Grange Park for six weeks.
All participants are required to complete a parental/guardian consent form before taking part, with the events being supported by BCH members, the council, leisure services and police officers.
Blackpool Coastal Housing Chief Executive Peter Jefferson hopes this is the start of an exciting few months ahead:
“This is the first in a series of diverse activities we have planned for young people in Blackpool. It is just another example of how the Tenant’s Project Fund helps to put on events that provide a positive impact to both our customers and the local community.”
“These events promise to engage and excite, particularly in the run-up to the Olympic Games.
“We have already used the climbing wall in taster sessions in other areas of the town and it has proved to be very successful. We hope this continues in Highfield, Grange Park and Mereside.”
