California Challenge Ropes Course

Capable individuals in effective teams form the basis of success.

A Challenge Course, or Ropes Course, is an experiential adventure program where participants push themselves individually, and as a group, through taking perceived and actual risks in order to achieve a common goal.

The challenges present in a Ropes Course are emotional, mental, and physical. These challenges can occur close to the ground in trust activities and group initiatives, as well as 20-40 feet above the ground in high ropes elements.

Experienced and skilled facilitators guide groups throughout the program while emphasizing the principals essential to a Challenge Course: safety, collaboration, and self-discovery.

Mother Lode adapts this experiential approach to effectively help a diverse population of participants learn awareness, teambuilding skills and problem solving. Our programs provide the material that enables teams to excel, meet objectives, and have fun.

Challenge Ropes Course & Teambuilding Programs

Low Element Half Day

Low Ropes Course elements consist of  a series of real and imaginary obstacles designed to challenge groups and individuals to work together to accomplish a task while building trust and group cohesion.  This group-oriented experience emphasizes morale and team building, communication, problem solving, leadership development, personal growth, and play.

Full Day Challenge Course

Develop your team or group in the morning at the low elements and then test your personal comfort zone with an exhilarating afternoon of climbing. Our high element challenge course activities are primarily individual challenges (aided by group support), which take place 20-40 feet above the ground in our California native Ponderosa Pine and Live Oak trees. Safety is maintained through the employment of technical climbing belay systems. High elements include the Leap of Faith, Pipe Dream, Balance Beam, Climbing Wall, and Zip Line.

High Element Half Day

This program incorporates some low elements to get your group focused and warmed up, then heads quickly into getting some air under your feet. The time required will depend on the number of participants and the desired number of high elements.

Ropes and Rafting

As a Ropes Course team we develop new skills; as a whitewater rafting crew we implement those skills on the river. Like life itself, the river is exhilarating, always changing and filled with obstacles; it requires cooperation, adaptability, courage, and clear thinking.

Whitewater rafting can be combined with half-day, or full day Challenge Ropes Course Programs. For example, you can add a half-day of whitewater rafting to any half-day Ropes Program. Spend your morning working together on the Challenge Ropes Course, and then head to the river for an exciting afternoon of whitewater rafting

For various whitewater rafting options, please refer to the River Trips page.
