Himalyan Glaciers Getting Bigger is a Mystery?

Here’s the headline in the Christian Science Monitor….

Global warming mystery: Some Himalayan glaciers getting bigger

While the story comes from Reuters, you have to laugh at their lead in…

The Himalayan glaciers are the planet’s largest bodies of ice outside the polar caps. New research shows some Himalayan glaciers got bigger between 1999-2008

To this we say “no shit Sherlock!” If you look at the below charts you can see that the average rise in temperature starts to flatten out (the curving dash line) and see the start of the downward trend, which prompts us to ask what global warming?

spacer

Want more on why this shouldn’t be a big mystery? Look at the arctic ice so far this year. Note the red line (2012) where it meets or slightly exceeds the average from 1979 to 2006, and meets 2010. Again we ask what warming?

spacer

The mystery here is why they don’t update the average and instead of 1979 to 2006 make it 1979 to 2012? That’s a 6 year lag!

You can look at the Antarctic below, too. Note there’s nothing to write home to mama about here, either. To be redundant – what warming?

spacer

Note the average here is 1979-2008, a little better but still not current in our book. With all the computers and satellites these days we have to again ask why the averages are not more current? 2008 is still a 4 year lag in information. They still using Commodore 64′s or what?

To reiterate, the mysteries to us are and what you should be asking yourselves is:

1. Why the chart average dates aren’t more current? Why do the averages cut off years before now?

2. Why anyone should be surprised that some of the glaciers aren’t melting like some phony computer models show?

3. Why some scientists appear to think the general public is dumber than a rock and continue to foist BS upon us even though it appears there’s no evidence of any catastrophic or unprecedented anything.

Really now, the CO2 is going up and the temperature isn’t, the glaciers aren’t melting and it doesn’t appear the Arctic or Antarctic sea-ice is disappearing either. That should be about all you need to know to comprehend there’s not much of a problem. Yet, we continue to be deluged with heaping, steaming, piles of crap that regardless the weather, claim global warming is unprecedented and that unless we start redistributing the world’s wealth, we’re all gonna die.

‘Global Warming’ Visits Montana

After reading how ‘warm’ it is and ‘unprecedentedly hot’ blah-blah-blah, please note that it’s April 5, 2012 and there’s a blizzard warning in Montana. We know it’s just weather, but eagerly await some warmer pundit to tell us this too, is caused by global warming.

Scientists pin down historic sea level rise – with pinheads.

Scientists pin down historic sea level rise – with pinheads. Today we have another in a massive quantity of articles all designed to make you soil your underwear and capitulate to the global warming gods and start donating money to the Goreacle, et al. You can see in the quotes what I’m talkin’ about.

The collapse of an ice sheet in Antarctica up to 14,650 years ago might have caused sea levels to rise between 14 and 18 meters, a study showed on Wednesday, data which could help make more accurate climate change predictions.

Note by stating  this ‘could help make more accurate climate change predictions’ they’ve basically admitted a) that they’re not certain and b) that what they have now sucks, yet you’re supposed to be stupid and buy a house in the mountains so you don’t get flooded. It gets better.

Sea levels have increased on average about 18 centimetres since 1900 and rapid global warming will accelerate the pace of the increase, experts say, putting coastlines at risk and forcing low-lying cities to build costly sea defenses.

Ummm…..yeah, right. 18 centimeters is only about 7 inches over 112 years, which is a whopping 0.0625 inches per year. Yep, I’m heading for the high ground and giving all my worldly possessions to the UN’s IPCC immediately.

Haven’t had enough BS yet? Well, it still gets even better!

Scientists last month said that thinning glaciers and ice caps were pushing up sea levels by 1.5 millimetres a year, and experts forecast an increase of as much as two meters by 2100.

OK, so look at the graphs below. See the Arctic sea-ice? Does it look like it’s disappearing? Nope! It’s increasing! See any thinning? I don’t.

Now here’s a real clear statement.

A very rapid sea level rise is thought to have occurred 14,650 years ago but details about the event have been unclear.

Yes, though things are ‘unclear’ you’re supposed to be a total dumbass and buy into this BS, which show’s you the intelligence of some global warming fans who continue to fan the flames even though someone doused them with a fire hose already.

Regardless, and to further add to the insane things we’re supposed to believe we’d like to know why this is even remotely relevant to anthropogenic global warming? Why? Because sure as the sun shines, there was no man-made global warming 14,650 years ago.

AL GORE RECANTS GLOBAL WARMING!

In an amazing turn of events Al Gore has recanted Global Warming! After selling all his stock in the Carrier Air Conditioning Company and buying heating oil futures, Al was noted to be telling his cohorts that global cooling was coming fast and that he was buying property in the Amazon Jungle where it’s nice and warm. April Fools!

Warmer Climate Smaller Horses?

spacer

Now here’s a good one! An article titled “Global warming ‘could make us shorter’ after horses are found to have shrunk the LAST time the world heated up.”

First, notice the favorite word of the warmers “could.” More unsettled settled science, the usual scare them to death but offer no legitimate sounding proof.

Second, notice we’re talking horses here. No not talking horses like Mr. Ed, but talking about horses. Actually it may be a case of horses asses talking about horses. I see no evidence about this affecting any other creature on the face of the earth, meaning to me that it could just be unique to horses and have nothing whatsoever do to with climate.

Third, this flies in the face of common sense when considering norms associated with climate and evolution. Generally speaking, it’s been agreed upon that when it’s warmer there’s more food and when it’s colder there’s less. So claiming that we get smaller horses when it’s warmer and there’s a larger food supply smells like horse shit to me. It also doesn’t explain the huge dinosaurs that roamed the earth during extremely warm periods with plenty of food around to eat and get big, nor does it explain that why, after whatever apocalypse caused the dinosaurs demise, the smaller animals that ate less survived while the larger ones died. When food is in short supply (like when its ice-age time) the smaller critters that eat less will get by while the bigger ones who eat like pigs won’t find enough food and thus starve to death. The exact opposite of this s0-called theory.

Nope, this sounds to me like another case of finding a solution to a non-existent problem as long as it can be blamed upon global warming.

More CO2 Insanity. Don’t believe it? Look at that guy in the picture above and tell me that’s going to be the next Seabiscuit?

When the Earth Goes Tilt

spacer

Tilt! A word associated with pinball games (if anyone remembers what those are) is now associated with the warming and cooling of the planet.

The idea that slight shifts in Earth’s axis might have been enough to trigger the ice ages is a century old.

But a Harvard earth sciences Professor Peter Huybers has finally proved it, using computer models to test competing ideas – and finding that earth’s tilting axis is the only one that works.

So, per this, it’s not that nasty old anthropogenic (man-made) CO2 that certain warmers have been blithering about for decades, it’s the variation of the tilt of the Earth’s axis, something I remember hearing about in grade school about 50 years ago, in pre-Goracle times when kids were taught actual science and didn’t major in Greentard Brainwashing 101.

Two ‘cycles’ in the way Earth’s axis spins have an effect on the cycle – one lasting 10,000 years and one lasting roughly 40,000 years.

When they align correctly, ice melts. At the other extreme, glaciers advance.

‘And at least now we know with greater than 99 percent confidence that shifts in earth’s axis are among the factors that contribute to deglaciation.’

OK. We’re waiting for certain people out there we all know and ‘love’ to capitulate and say ‘oops!’, but we won’t hold our breath.

The San Francisco Green Energy Ripoff

spacer

A photo of San Francisco at night with green power?

It seems San Francisco will soon have “free” green energy that isn’t “free” or very “green.” Instead of “free” and “green” we get this:

  • Monthly bills will increase by $84 to $180 annually
  • You’re signed up automatically and if you don’t opt out your stuck with the increase
  • Due to the unreliability of wind power and solar your electricity will still come from coal and gas power plants when those don’t work on windless and cloudy days.
  • The startup costs $19.5 million including $15 million placed in an escrow account to pay Shell Energy North America if the program is terminated before the contract expires in 4½ years.

San Francisco, touted as “the city that knows how” evidently only “knows how” to rip off the taxpayers. There are probably 19.5 million ways to spend that $19.5 million on things that would make San Francisco a better place to live than on overpriced faux green energy.

The city’s a mess in many places. Traffic’s a mess, the streets are a mess, the homeless are a mess, crime is a mess, there are many blighted places. Let’s not forget that the schools are taking it  in the shorts thanks to Jerry Brown’s faux budget that recently fell apart and could also use that money.

Nope, in San Francisco politics it’s better to genuflect to the imaginary green energy god. Keeping PG & E who appears to be able to provide  cleaner, more reliable and less expensive energy would have just been too simple compared to creating another SF bureaucracy that appears to be FUBAR before it even starts.

If you thought that the power going out a Candlestick Park during a nationally televised football game was an embarrassment just wait and see what happens, or doesn’t, as the case may be. No wonder the 49′ers want to move to Santa Clara.

Federal judge blocks Calif. low-carbon fuels rule

spacer

It appears we have a judge with some common sense who even knows about the Constitution.

U.S. District Court Judge Lawrence O’Neill ruled Thursday that the rules violated a commerce clause by discriminating against crude oil and biofuels producers located outside California.

California already has overpriced gasoline due to regulations stipulating how it’s made, not to mention different formulas for summer and winter. All this does is drive the price of gas up because no one else is going to bother making it unless they have a refinery in California.

Have a refinery down for maintenance or a refinery fire and the price almost always goes up due to the laws of supply and demand that are continually ignored by CARB and elected officials in favor of some special unicorn magic that will save us all from ourselves.

We’d like to see this ruling applied to all gas in California. Then perhaps some competition will lower the prices to a more reasonable level.
