About Communications Catalyst

spacer This blog is where I share my thoughts on public relations and integrated communications. In addition to providing discussion starters around the continually evolving world of marketing communications, I also like to challenge the status quo to make sure we’re doing things because it’s what is best instead of simply because it’s the way we’ve always done it.

About David Mullen

spacer That’s me, David Mullen, in the photo. My goal is to help connect brands with their key customers in meaningful ways. That includes using traditional and non-traditional communications and integrating efforts across the marketing mix to present clear, consistent, compelling messages.

I’ve had the opportunity to help shape communications strategies and manage their executions for a variety of brands, including The Home Depot, Coldwell Banker, Sealy, BASF, EMBARQ, InterCall and Healthtex. I believe a marketing agency or department should work to become indispensable to the brands it represents. It should serve as trusted counsel and constantly bring new, game-changing ideas to the table.

If you like what you’ve read on my blog, then let’s connect in these places, too.

About My Employer

spacer I work at Mullen, a full-service marketing agency and an independent brand within the Interpublic Group of Companies. Mullenโ€™s client portfolio includes General Motors, Orbitz, BASF, La Quinta Inns & Suites, LendingTree, U.S. Department of Defense, CSX and CSC. Headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, the agency operates offices in Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Detroit, Michigan; and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. For more on Mullen, click here.

*In case you noticed, yes my last name is the exact same as the agency where I work. Nope, I don’t own the place and it wasn’t started by anyone in my family. I’m not being presumptuous. A LOT of people ask.

Of course we presume that it’s your company and that you’re just being too modest to say you OWN it and partnered with IPG — until you added the tag — well done, and not at ALL presumptuous. Just makes me notice my own (99% accurate) presumptions!
