Now the dust has settled on our first guest band session at our new venue Floripa, it’s time to reflect. Thanks to everyone who managed to drop in on last Sunday’s gig, it really was so good to see so many friendly faces and of course new faces for what was a great day of live jazz in the heart of East London. So far the new venue is working out well with improved space for the live acts, reasonably priced drinks (not to mention awesome cocktails) and the most divine Sunday Roast we’ve ever tasted (Brazilian no less!). So for the moment we’d like to show everyone who’s supported us at the first two events a lot of LOVE, as running a weekly live night in the current climate is by no means an easy feat.

Looking back at Sunday, we were blessed to welcome Jazzman Records’ own Greg Foat Group, who played two sublime sets of fresh and classic material from their forthcoming new album and of course, their début ‘Dark is The Sun‘ (which was nominated among the best jazz albums of 2011 at Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Awards 2012). Our special guest DJ Lander Lenarts (who flew in from Leuven, Belgium for the occasion!) dropped some beautiful dance floor jazz for the masses between and after the live sessions, while Jarred Rice played a mammoth two and a half hours of funky and freaky rare jazz to kick off the evening right.

Roll on the April sessions. In the meantime, check out a few rough videos taken on Sunday and showcasing some of the live highlights.
