Northwestern Externship Program (NEXT): every spring, students who apply may have the chance to shadow an alumni at an employer or career field of your choice. Ever wondered what it’s like to work at a New York fashion magazine headquarters? Maybe an alumni will open the opportunity for a day or two through this program. Click here.
The Insight Group: a mentorship program rejuvenated by Blair Kessler and other upperclassmen on campus to match mentees one-on-one with mentors in similar career fields who are interested in giving back to the community. The Insight Group is a great resource for any students who would like a mentor to really guide and challenge themselves to do better. Find them here.
Dream Champs: a video based blog by two Northwestern alumni who have founded a social media company together called Pop! Social Media. Dream Champs provides advice from interviews to determine whether a job is right for you. Click here.
Northwestern Career Services Blog: a blog run by Northwestern University’s University Career Services (UCS) staff to help students navigate everything from resume preparation to interview preparation to networking tips to further resources. A really neat site with information that upperclassmen wish they had known earlier. Find site here.
Northwestern Alumni Association: the NAA has some great podcasts by alumni and staff. Two major series: Career Tracks gives you career advice from the search to the interviews by seasoned professionals and Learning Tracks is gives insights into what it’s like to work at a place like the Fed for example. ISBE Analytics: Analytics specializes in employing quantitative methods to solve on-campus issues. Working with multiple clients each quarter, ISBE Analytics conducts campus-wide surveys to gain knowledge about social trends, research the student body’s satisfaction with various Northwestern services, and investigate other issues important to Northwestern students. Members come from various quantitative backgrounds and are trained to discover trends and process datasets to propose solutions, thus providing analytics experience to undergraduates seeking business or consulting careers, while also serving as an integral resource to the NU community.
Mark: Mark is marketing arm of ISBE. ISBE’s Marketing Group oversees all promotional aspects of our organization. Their main responsibility is to increase ISBE’s brand awareness and maintain a positive brand image. The Marketing Group also creates marketing strategies and deliverables to promote ISBE events on Northwestern’s campus.
