Volunteer

Our organization is entirely staffed by volunteers. We need a lot of people to volunteer a little bit of time to make this organization work, so if you can help with any of the positions below, please contact us know at info@ar-ne.org.

There are many benefits to volunteering, such as learning a new skill, meeting new people, and contributing to a worthy cause. Being a young organization with an open, democratic, transparent culture, volunteers will benefit from as much guidance as they require. They can take their position as far as their time and imagination will take it.

Thank you in advance.

Welcome to New Members

Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of AR-NE (Association of Romanians in New England). Our primary goals are to support and promote the Romanian language and culture in NE and to preserve our heritage for future generations. To accomplish these goals we organize and promote cultural, educational, and professional events as well as social gatherings to strengthen ties among members of the community.

As before, we will continue to hold regular seminars on various professional topics (some of our previous seminars covered financial, real estate, and immigration topics) culminating in a large annual Romanians of NE Fair to showcase the various Romanian-American organizations, services, and initiatives in the area to the community. We will attempt to organize various discussion panels as well as fund small research projects on topics of interest to the community. Our long term goals are to create a Romanian-American business council of NE, as well as to collaborate with higher learning institutions to offer classes in Romanian language, history and culture.

For families and children we are planning to organize events around Martisor and Mother’s Day, Lilac Sunday Picnic at Arnold Arboretum, Children’s Day, St. Nicholas Day , as well as other Holidays. We hope to organize these events in collaboration with other interested Romanian organizations. Other projects in the same vein include dinners and plays, a movie night, and developing a Romanian Library and Book Exchange Program in the NE area.

To improve the cultural and social scene in NE we hope to organize a Romanian Movie Club to introduce members to classic and modern Romanian movies, leading perhaps to a small Romanian Film Festival. We also hope to organize cultural evenings with poetry and music, including live bands playing classical, folk, and modern Romanian music. Work will continue on projects such as developing a Romanian Library and Library Exchange Program in the NE area, a welcome package to help new immigrants, including students, settle in the NE area, a club for retired members, a Romanian dinner/cooking club, and a printed newsletter for subscribers.

AR-NE will strive to work on the basis of initiative and organizational facilitation, teamwork and collaboration with other community groups, democracy and transparency in its activities, and most importantly volunteerism. Your financial contribution makes it possible for us to support and coordinate meaningful, current and interesting programs for the Romanian community of NE. Members will be provided with discounts at our planned activities, have access to all financial records, and will elect the Board of Directors annually. If you are able to afford to give a higher amount than our membership dues, it will be put to very good use. The events and projects mentioned above will develop according to our members priorities and support – our success depends on your help and involvement.

Sincerely yours,

The Association of Romanians in New England (AR-NE)
