Why Drazen Certified?

spacer Why The Name Drazen Certified?
As anyone who knows me (Dave) well, they realize that I have a lot of interests. I’m always interested in learning something new or learning something else better. Being a Scientist, I like to find the best way to do something: especially anything from scratch!

The Certification Story
One of these obsessions/interests of mine is coffee. I got an espresso machine as a gift from my friends Derek and Evie. I used it at work to make espresso and/or cappucino in the afternoons. After talking with my other friend Tucker I began roasting my own coffee beans. Soon I had a psudeo-coffee shop running in the lab with home-roasted coffee.

So a work colleague, Joel Hazard, got a nice espresso machine as a wedding gift. He would make coffee on the weekends. One weekend while making coffee for his friends, he reassured them that he knew what he was doing as he was a “Drazen Certified” barista. Thus the name was born and being Drazen Certified jokingly grew to other topics. When I left San Diego I gave Joel his very own “Drazen Certified” t-shirt to wear. We named this website Drazen Certified as it contains life experiences, knowledge, and fun that has been “certified” by us.

Now whether this certification carries any weight, well that’s possibly a subject for a completely different blog.

Drazen,
just thought I would let you know that I am carrying on the lab “Drazen Certified” espresso tradition this morning with some authentic Italian Lavazza espresso I brought back from my trip.
Lelli will have the pictures posted this week.
