Making a Picnic Enjoyable with Games

For some people, the best time to enjoy the weather is during spring and summer time. On weekends, parents bond with their kids and take them out to the mall or eat in a restaurant and enjoy each other’s company. When the day is nice and sunny, kids often want to have a picnic at the park or in their home’s backyard where they can play games and spend time with one another. Having a picnic in the backyard can be lots of fun especially when you set up a grill and invite close friends and extended family members over.

Bring out the Frisbee, football and other sports accessories older kids can play with. Plan other types of games that will require the interaction of everyone who attended the picnic. Games and activities are a great way to get people involved because they can team up, promoting healthy competitive energy. Some of the most popular group games are tug-of-war, sack contests, three legged race and balloon toss.

Other games that both adults and children can enjoy are Twister, which is one of the world’s most popular board games. This game is played on a large plastic mat with circles of different colors. The colors are usually red, blue, green and yellow. The package comes with a spinner divided into four sections: left foot, right foot, left hand and right hand. Each section is divided into the four colors on the mat. When someone spins a combination such as right hand to blue, the player must put the matching hand or foot to the colored circle.

Another game is Charades in which one player acts out a topic, word or public figure and his team members will guess it. Players are not allowed to make verbal sounds so a person’s acting skills will be crucial. All players should also agree on a time limit for each round.

If young children are present and they are too young to play games, you can bring an activity tables for toddlers. What makes activity tables for toddlers different from standard tables is they are specially designed for that specific age group. An activity table has a size perfect for young children aged 1 to 5 and has colors and designs attractive to their age group. Some activity tables have the alphabet printed on them as well as pictures of shapes and numbers which young children can use as a learning tool. Bringing toys and planning out games for people of all ages can ensure you that everyone in the picnic will have a blast.
