Proudly Sponsoring the Red Hook Crit

This weekend, the Monks crew had the pleasure of participating in the 5th annual running of the Red Hook Crit.  Not only is this one of our favorite bike events of the year, it also turned into an excellent opportunity for us to throw down on some delicious veg/vegan fare.  spacer

Now, we know we make the best seitan in Brooklyn, but with a whole roast lamb from Fort Defiance and the freshest greens and grains from Added Value, Cayuga Organics and Growing Chefs on the menu, we really felt like we had to do something extra.  Working with fellow sponsor Sixpoint Brewery, we decided to make a beer braised seitan and onions.  A touch of maple and some Sweet Action and we had ourselves a winner!  (Check out this week’s specials if you want a taste!)

Saturday night, we were back in action for the actual race.  As course marshals for the main event, we had some of the best seats on the pier to watch our friend Dan Chabanov cruise to victory.  Congrats Dan on your third red hook crit victory - Outstanding work!

Thanks to Dave Trimble/Trimble Racing and all of the sponsors, racers and volunteers for making this a great weekend of events.  We had a blast!
