Friends
I work with the following entrepreneurs and they can tell you all about me:
Joe Cohen (@SeatwaveJoe) from Seatwave. Sonali de Rycker and I backed Joe right at company formation stage. Joe had unique experience from both Match.com and Ticketmaster and is a real leader.
Seatwave is the leading marketplace for live event tickets in Europe.
Alex Chesterman & Simon Kain at Zoopla. Alex had GBP50K in funding and a concept when we decided to work together. I have re-invested in the company 4 times now. A great entrepreneur and a great relationship. Alex was the founder of Screen Select with William Reeve which achieved a ton of almost money, merged equally with the heavily funded Video Island and later with Lovefilm to become the UK market leader in video services. Alex was Chief Commercial Officer until he got bored and started Zoopla with Simon.
Zoopla is now #2 in UK online real estate and killing it.
Benjamin Bejbaum and now Cedric Tournay at DailyMotion. Ben was the uber talented product founder and Cedric is the entrepreneur-like CEO the company needed at scale. I still cannot believe we made it through to sustainability with that company given how much of an extreme ride this was (extreme scaling, extreme lawsuits, extreme competition and so on), but we got there.
DailyMotion built a 130M UU business that is the largest digital media asset (by traffic) ever created out of Europe and a top 30 global website.
