The lemur photos on this website were taken during a four week trip to Madagascar. During the trip we travelled to several different ecosystems in order to photograph as many of Madagascar’s unique species as possible.

We started our journey in the montane rainforest of Amber Mountain National Park in the north of Madagascar before driving west to the dry deciduous forest of Ankarana National Park. During this leg of the trip we photographed several lemur species endemic to the North including Sandford’s Brown Lemurs, Crowned Lemurs and Ankarana Sportive Lemurs. We also made a brief trip to the Island of Nosy Komba to photograph the Black Lemur.

We then headed to Andasibe-Mantadia National Park, near the capital Antananarivo, to photograph the largest lemur species, the indri. This is where we also photographed the highly endangered Golden Diademed Sifaka.

The dry deciduous forests of Anjajavy Reserve were our next stop. This was a great place to photograph Coquerel’s Sifaka. These lemurs had just had their babies at the time of year we were there. At Anjajavy we also photographed Brown Lemurs, the recently discovered Milne-Edwards Sportive Lemur and Mouse Lemurs.

Finally, we flew south to the spiny and gallery forests of Berenty and the Ifotaka Community Forest. Here we photographed the “dancing” Verreaux’s Sifakas and the iconic ring-tailed lemurs.
