To reach the Danforth (Main) Library
CAR |
From New York City - GW Bridge
Take Route 80 Express to Exit 58B (Madison Ave., Paterson). Continue
on Madison Avenue to Broadway
(also known as Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard), approximately 7 traffic lights. Turn left
onto Broadway (westbound) and continue for three traffic lights.
Make a left onto Summer Street (directly after the 3rd traffic light),
and then immediately right onto Van Houten Street, from which you will
be able to enter the parking lot in the rear of the Library. (See map
below.) |
From Route #17
Take Route 17 to Route 4 West (towards Paterson). Route 4 becomes Broadway
(also known as Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard)
when it enters Paterson. Drive about 2 miles through 8-10 lights straight down
Broadway
until Summer Street (across from a gas station - no light).
Make a left onto Summer Street,
and then an immediate right onto Van Houten Street, from which you will
be able to enter the parking lot in the rear of the Library. (See
map below.) |
From Garden State Parkway
From northbound Garden State Parkway, take Exit #155 (to Route 80 and
Route 19). Exit onto Route 19 North (left exit). Follow Route 19 about 3 miles. As
the road ends stay in the left lane going towards "Downtown
Paterson". Route 19 becomes Ward Street. Proceed through 4
lights; at the fifth light (Memorial Street) turn left. Continue
through three lights; turn right at the fourth light onto Broadway (also known as Martin
Luther King, Jr. Boulevard). Proceed approximately 1/2
mile. The library will be on your right. On-street parking is
available in the front of the library but, if necessary, go past the library; turn
right onto Summer Street; right onto Van Houten; right into the parking lot.
(See map below.)
From southbound Garden State Parkway, take the exit onto Route 80
West which is just after the Bergen Toll. Take Route 80 West to Exit 58B (Madison Ave., Paterson). Continue
on Madison Avenue to Broadway (also known as Martin
Luther King, Jr. Boulevard), approximately 7 traffic lights. Turn left
onto Broadway, (westbound) and continue through three traffic lights.
Make a left onto Summer Street (directly after the 3rd traffic light),
and then immediately right onto Van Houten Street, from which you will
be able to enter the parking lot in the rear of the library. (See
map below.)

From Route #46 East
From eastbound Route 46 - about one mile past the Route 46/Route 3 split -
take the exit marked Broad Street (this is immediately before the ramp
to the Garden State Parkway North). At the light at the end of the exit ramp turn
left onto Route 19/Broad Street.
Go past the library; turn
right onto Summer Street; right onto Van Houten; right into the parking lot.
(See map below.)
From Route #46 West
From westbound Route 46 - proceed through Clifton Center -
take the exit marked Garden State Parkway South/Route 19. This is an odd
ramp because it immediately forks, the right fork leads onto the Parkway
South; the left fork leads to Route 19. TAKE THE LEFT FORK! DO
NOT GET ON THE PARKWAY!
Go past the library; turn
right onto Summer Street; right onto Van Houten; right into the parking lot.
(See map.)
