Attention Social Media Burnouts – Could This Be Your Antidote?

by Lori Taylor · 0 comments

spacer Optimizing your minutes each day is mission critical to your personal happiness and the success of your business.

Yet the world of social media is getting bigger every day, so what’s a girl to do?

If you’re like me you already have accounts at a half dozen (or more) social networks and keeping track of all those log-ins and passwords securely isn’t easy.

You might not even think about it as you rush around from place to place!

Until you get hacked.

The truth is, being crafty with your passwords is a necessary evil and something you must take very seriously.

If you don’t manage that many different profiles or passwords you probably won’t need the new tool I want to introduce today from my friends at MySocialCloud.

Which is fine…

Unless you’re avoiding adding networks because you’re facing Social Media Burnout.

If you are, don’t feel bad – it happens to the best of us.

Heck, I know early adopters who sat on the sidelines for Google + just for that very reason.  And now they’re playing catch up.

This is the exact problem MySocialCloud wants to address. They know that too much administration kills fascination – and let’s face it, once you stop being curious it’s pretty much over, right?spacer

When you’re serious about optimizing the social media, you’re always on the lookout for fresh new views on topics and sources of content. Just blatantly ba-baaing your way around following all the usual suspects isn’t going to be enough to keep people interested in YOU for long.

You must find ways to add value, and to spice it up with your own secret sauce! At a minimum you want to at least be the guy (or gal) that brings new nuggets of information not already being shared at a rate of a 1000 tweets a minute.

In my experience, if you want to be successful online you must focus on value-add interaction with your network.

First you have to find someone who wants to hear what you have to say. Then, as any good direct marketer would tell you, HOW you tell the story is just as important as WHOM you tell it to.

For example…

If you’re selling to photographers you might choose to use more visual networks like Pinterest to impress and engage your audience.

If you’re a restaurant owner, review and recommendation sites like Yelp and Google Places are beneficial for lead generation.

If you sell products to web designers, you might need to find video sites like Vimeo (in addition to YouTube) or Pixsy to place videos that explain and demonstrate your product or service.
If you want to get writers, you might hang out at Helium.
And if you’re a super ninja online marketer, you know forums are the key to engagement for any niche, with the really good ones requiring passwords most of the time.

(Which gets crazy as you could be participating on 100’s of forums if you have multiple clients or products.)

No matter how you manage it, trying out new networks or apps to build your business can be overwhelming but it’s necessary if you’re serious about building a real business online.

spacer Luckily the folks at MySocialCloud can help – and it’s super simple to get started.

All you have to do is log-in and create a password (fortunately, the only password you will soon need to remember). Then you just add your existing social networks to your dashboard.

From the main interface of MySocialCloud you can monitor your Facebook and Twitter streams, track interactions; search for friends, invite friends; generally make your social media management easier than it’s ever been before.

And if making it easier to manage your social media network and helping you keep track of your log-ins wasn’t enough…

You can easily collect new images and content using their handy little bookmarklet – you can save just about anything including photos and videos. This app makes it super simple to share your finds with your social media network.

You can even add new sites you visit most frequently to your list of stored log-ins.

Now all you have to do is log-in to MySocialCloud to instantly have access to your entire network and build it as you go!

MySocialCloud also helps you find and filter relevant content, so you’re not being bombarded with stuff you don’t want or don’t need. With this solution you can at least keep the noise down to a college roar.

If you’re looking for a complete online social media organizational tool, I definitely think MySocialCloud is worth a look. It’s still in beta-testing, but so far, from what I’ve seen, it looks good to go!

Amazon Will Lose 1.6 Billion This Year… (Infographic)

…if they slowed their search results by even one second according to resent research.

(See the infographic below for the full picture.)

Is that insane or what?

Where we once worried about the sense of entitlement prevalent in the younger generation aren’t we now facing a new dilemma across all generations?

Urgency junkies everywhere becoming addicted to the feeling of instant gratification.

Voice mails and emails seem so old school compared to texting and instant chat, migrating us from a mindset of entitlement to what I affectionately call (and trademarked) a One-Click Society™.

With the constant influx of data through multiple communication touch points you’re no longer as willing to “wait” . Technology has trained you to move on quicker to get what you want faster.

And if you can’t get what you want exactly when you want it?

You “bounce”.

Think about it…

One in four people will abandon a web page if it takes more than four seconds to load.

(Before you write this off as geek speak, stay with me so you can see what this really means to you.)

Considering Google projects slowing their search results by 4/10 of a second would cost them 8 million searches per DAY, do you really expect people will patiently wait for your latest and greatest post to load?

I doubt it.

Do you know many visitors are you losing due to flash, big graphics and bad hosting?

Review this infographic from our friends at the Online Graduate Programs and you tell me if you think I’m exaggerating the current societal state of affairs.

So what do you think…

Are we a One Click Society™ or what?

Will our nation burn out from overwhelmnation?

Or will we continue to raise the bar, leaving behind those who can’t “keep up”?

[My new book The OCS Syndrome being published this summer by Sterling & Stone llc is going to focus on this instant gratification society we are living in. I'd love to hear your personal stories about being addicted to over drive. Send me a note in the comments to contact you if I think I can incorporate your story in my book.]

Twitter Showdown: Mashable Vs. Social Media Examiner

Is David getting closer to Goliath?

Check out this infographic to see how it shakes down on Twitter.

As an author at Social Media Examiner and a fan of Mari Smith, Amy Porterfield, Jason Falls, Michael Stelzner and Cindy King I have to vote for Social Media Examiner.

While I completely in awe of the juggernaut Pete Cashmore has built – it’s not as rookie friendly as Social Media Examiner. But both are cutting age and it’s sort of like comparing Vogue vs. Vanity Fair or something like that.

If the Gods at Google said you could only read one – who would you pick?

And why?
